Mate, I am happy that devs sold some more copies; at the end of the day, that was the point of introducing difficulty levels.
I am upset not because of that but because they promised challenges and deep mechanics and all of that stuff. They complained that the games are not social interactions anymore and that Blizzard devs used to make great and complex games and then turned into crap with simple character trees(D3) and LFG mechanics(WoW).
However, as soon as they got bomb reviews - they immediately changed their mind and did the same. Instead of growing the game and providing more accessibility to reduce difficulty within the game - they just decided to put a magic menu that slash enemies’ damage and health, and I do not believe now that they can change the path they took because they already stepped on it.
I believe the game will end up similar to D4, where people will one-shot everything. Why? Well, because of the maximum difficulty.
Social interventions to help overcome challenges? Just change the difficulty!
Character build does not work very well? Just change the difficulty!
Screwed up with attributes? Just change the difficulty!
Multiplayer now will be something for 0.5% of players. The rest will just run around on the minimum difficulty.
So now it is not about the game anymore, how awesome it can be, what builds there can be, which weapon is great and why, which runes we should use, and why. Now, it is all about “Change difficulty level.”
The main point for this topic was to vent because I spent 200+ hours in this game and saw the potential to have a great game in the future to spend even more hours. With this patch, developers flashed in the toilet for me but sold some more copies, which is good for them but bad for me. So, I deleted the game and will probably return after the full release to finish the campaign and forget about it.
