Low framerate on high spec machine solved with Admin privileges on .exe

Solved Discord user ‘Bazuso’ who was stuck at roughly 20 fps on his PC rig. Fix saw his framerate skyrocket to over 1,000 uncapped.

The fix - Navigate to your steamapps folder for No Rest for the Wicked. Right click the .exe and Run as Administrator. I recommend setting it to always Run as Administrator in Properties.

Below are all the other fixes that he tried + his specs.

’Update DDU did not work and making sure it was updating my config did not work either’
Specs
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
GPU: RTX 4070 super
RAM: 32GB

Fixes tried:

Installed on SSD
Tried reinstalling on different SSD
Tried Verifying files
Tried all settings ultra low
Tried Render resolution set lowest
Tried running game through Nvida to make sure its using GPU
GPU usage at 100% but wife using the same GPU getting 25% usage and normal frame rate
On latest GPU and BIos Drivers
DDU still sub 20 fps
insured settings were updating
Tried windowed and non windowed
Vulkan/OpenGL effected nothing
Tried -useallavailablecores
Tried dx11 and 12
Firewall was deactivated and exemptions made to no avail

Thank you Laura, this is good information to have.

My game was running fine before. But I did this thing and I noticed NRFTW was running buttery smooth after I did that thing with “Run as Administrator” with the .exe file. I do not have an FPS counter, but it feels more smooth

Sadly a friend of mine attempted each solution here and only got around 20 more FPS. :smiling_face_with_tear: Almost identical specs, too.
