Lightning and Shock Effects are Visually too Distracting During Co-op

Shock and lightning effects takes a lot of screen space making it hard to make out what the enemies are doing or what they’re about to do. If the lightning effects can be made to be a bit more subtle, I think that would make the co-op experience much better.

Agree, even as a solo player…Status effects visuals are way over the top. And I can’t imagine how much they can interfere with combat visibility when playing in multi…

As Moon Studio wants to innovate on each part of this game, they should consider to NOT follow the crowd and try to have much more subtle effects. If needed, they could provide settings for that.

Why more subtle visual effects:

  1. Combat visibility is super important in this game
  2. More subtle doesn’t mean less beautiful or even less impactful
  3. Even if only 30% of players would appreciate it, it’s still a lot of people
  4. Visual fatigue is a thing
  5. Game performance (?)
  6. It would be a good way to differentiate NRFTW from other games, reenforcing its uniqueness.

→ I would personally appreciate 3 levels for visual effects: low - medium - high (high being the current one)

If you read this and agree, at least please vote for this topic as it needs visibility.

Alfred, always good to see you on the forum

A showcase by screenshot or clip will go a long way here I think! Just a friendly tip.

Hope something comes of this.

I agree that these effects are over the top. We had the same effect problems in Ori.

for sure man. will try to get that video or screenshot. just to give a description for my particular experience, one of my co-op mates uses lightning on his bow and when it hits an enemy, it generates this orb-like shock field that covers the enemy and the area around the enemy. nearly zero visibility on what the enemy is about to do.

Depending on what you can show, it sounds like something might even be wrong. I will be waiting!

Agree, I died a few time during crucible. I couldn’t see where my char was because of the shock on damage echo.
