Tom, and Company,
I’ve played the Breach through 9 times now and only found 3 legendary weapons. One of them I found multiple times sure, the corpse smeared blade, but the only other ones I found were a rapier I never touched and some other blade I don’t even remember because it didn’t make an impression on me.
Please make a boss piece of equipment drop 100 percent for each time we kill a boss. Please make the system intelligent enough to know which pieces we have so it doesn’t spam the same one. Please make the weapons and armor that drop worth a damn, because right now I rarely go with sets or even touch legendary weapons because RNG still ruins that part of the game.
I know that this game heavily relies on RNG. But the Souls Elements attract many a player who looks at this and sees redundancy, pointlessness and annoyance. We who have played Elden Ring and know where every weapon is and can just go get it if we are brave enough have to rely on RNG in this game to give us… Whatever. I might be a hobo for most of the game in gear one because none of the 11 or 21 gear is acceptable to me, even if I can waste all my embers on them, or enchantment gems don’t drop regularly enough, or non-blue enchanted armor doesn’t drop often enough.
Suggestion. It would be neat if we had enchantment gem drops increased. Gems and Embers drop heavily in the first zone at the start of the game but then take a nosedive once you’ve entered Sacrament. I’m not sure the numbers but it’s significant (back me up folks?). It would be neat if drops were connected to the type of creature killed and not the level of the creature killed. I get that you made it so low-level drops can occur even after we move past 11 and 21, but the idea I can’t pick up the Large felt mushroom hat from the large felt mushroom guy and farm him with certainty is… Just dumb. RNG for the sake of RNG is not a fun form of gameplay. I don’t play Diablo. I don’t play POE 1 or 2. I play this game because it is ORI and Souls Inspired. And while I appreciate some for of RNG must exist, please make it predictable in some form. A lottery at a Cassino is not what I had in mind.
Fear. If you are simply waiting for multiplayer to allow for folks to trade their equipment with each other that doesn’t sound fun to me either. I really don’t engage well with other people and rather despise being forced to hunt down a piece of equipment from someone I don’t know. I’m getting RuneScape vibes again and that’s not a good thing. Fight with them, hunt with them, quest with them yes. But that idea of trying to find RNG equipment from someone else is just a terrifying thought.
Conclusion. You’re level design and combat keep me coming back, but your RNG is a weakness at the moment. Instead of allowing for anything to drop from anyone anywhere allow for specific drops from specific enemies. And if you’re afraid of low-level items never dropping allow for crafting of those low-level items or making their enemy spawn locations known through the town guard quests. Allow for Legendary Armor and Weapons to drop with certainty so that we don’t end up with a low level non cursed item from killing Darak the Rebel leader (Still seething about that one).
Please keep at it. This game is super fun. I’ve got you positive reviewed since day one so please don’t worry on that front.
