I will qualify my title now. There are three barriers to entry with equipment. Stat’s, which already shoehorn you into a particular style of weapon (Dex, Faith, Int, Strength). Difficult enemies you need to defeat who drop the specific item. If you can defeat an enemy and you can loot his stuff you should be able to equip his…Fit. The third is the level requirement. This is dumb. It is stupid. I’m sorry. I can’t even sugarcoat this. Please just get rid of the level requirement. There’s a fourth barrier to use, I forgot, and that is the upgrade level of the item. Without proper upgrades the item isn’t helpful anyway. Just please. Get…Rid…Of…The…Level…Requirements.
I wouldn’t have expressed it in the same way, but I do agree that for this game the stat requirements are enough of a proxy for level requirement that the latter can simply be removed.
This will make the game more interesting IMO as it allows a wider decision making spectrum between tanky - balanced - glass canon gameplay
Yeah i might come on a bit strong. Its a pet peave ive had since the beginning. I barely touch equipment because its rarely availible when i get it. Its like luck of the draw in the first hour of the gsme determines how i play the entire run. Id also love it if the respec statue didnt require crucible runs. Specialy since i dont enjoy thr crucible aspect of the game as much.
Does it require that?
That would in my eyes be totally unacceptable game design.
What if you specced into something terrible and can’t complete the crucible?
Respec should IMHO be something available straight in the character screen (even if there’s a cost to it), but at an NPC in town is a reasonable trade off as it removes a lot of exploit opportunities. Putting respec behind a skill wall is a no go in my eyes
It doesnt require a complete run. But it requires you to run at least two goes to get the required 20 gems needed to purchase the statue. Bad design there.
Someone else had a great idea to make the fallen embers consumables. That would allow for both your in character screen, and negate the need for a statue.
I have a glintfiend armour lvl 9 that requires me to be lvl 21.
Every stat is worse than my lvl 12 Kindler’s Mantle that I found in the same area and it requires lvl 1.
It makes no sense. Lvl requirement should be tied to the level of the item, level of the mob that dropped it or removed from the game. Connecting it to a basetype that is purely cosmetic makes no sense.
In its current state, it just arbitrarily makes some items useless and some overpowered, for a low level character. And for a lvl 21 character it makes no difference anyway. So it’s bad for balance or pointless.
moved this here to keep things together
