I infused some gems into my gear this evening. And it seems that when I have already-enchanted gear with a stat bonus, if I pick a gem that has the same type of bonus, the percent increase from the gem always duplicates the existing stat bonus from the enchantment.
For example, I have Crestfallen Archer Pants. They are enchanted and have and Armor increase of 14%. When I added a gem infusion, the gem said I could get some range of percentage, something like 6-20% I think. When I actually infused the gem, the gem also gave the pants a 14% armor increase.
Then I tried the same thing on two more pieces of previously-enchanted gear. I added a Health gem to a cloak that had a Health enchantment of 13% and the gem on that gear also turned into a 13% health gem.
Same for a pair of gloves. Enchantment stat of 9% health on parry, and when I added the gem, it changed to 9% health on parry.
If that’s by design, fine, but the text is misleading, as it shows the gem could grant a range from X to Y. If the previous enchantment percentage dictates the gem percentage, then the display should show the exact percentage.
If it’s not by design, then there’s a bug with the gem percentage generation function.
This was done before Hotfix 5 was put out. Haven’t tried this since upgrade to hotfix 5.
