A Discord user had a better idea to balance the weapon variety problem.
Unlock more crafting recipes so players can choose their play style and work towards it.
This might not be as exciting as dropping RNG gear but honestly if a game offers over 100+ weapon types with different move sets and you almost reached the final boss of the first act not having fond a single one you want to use not even to mention with good stats this is ridiculous.
I initially found it a bit lame that crafting and enchanting could overshadow looting but tbh with this amount of weapon types it’s necessary to actually achieve the “creative build crafting” you were advertising for your game.
Another cool idea from a discord user: create your own weapon blueprints.
So this would still retain the excitement (or desperation) of finding cool new weapons yourself. But once you found one, you can go to the corresponding NPC and let them create a recipe for you so you can recreate that weapon in the future to try and roll better enchantments, put in different gems and runes etc.
It would still gradually open up more weapons but not restrict the player so much and make them hold on to their “XP loss on damage taken” cursed item because it’s the only katana they ever found.
Would be cool to have the blacksmith able to “study” weapons/armor we bring to him so then we can craft them with our own material.
Have him do a research by giving him your weapon
then he sells the recipe
and then u’ll only need to get materials
i’ve played 51h, only dropped 2 gnarled saw, the second one i dropped and enchanted had terrible -XX% stamina … i’d love to be able to keep crafting them so i can try my luck again
this system could be even cooler if for instance, the research could allow the study of a plate armor done by the 2 sisters, so she can think of an armor that will be leather instead of plate / mail and give you something in between, less weighty, but with more armor than the usual leather, of course it will have to be hard to craft because basic leather armor would become useless otherwise~ but i think it’s doable, since some crafting items are pretty rare, on my playthrough i only dropped a few bear paw (lest than 7 i think) so yeah, here is my 2 cents : p
you’re not the first to mention this so i really hope they will pick up on that idea. it seems to be the best solution for this insane amount of different weapons in this game.
yes, dismantling definitely need to be something too, so people don’t get bored of farming material and can recover some of the materials, even if it’s luck based at least XD
Metal blunt and bladed weapons to Filmore. Wooden weapons and bows to Whittacker. Staffs (and other caster-oriented weapons?) to Eleanor.
Take a copy of a weapon to the appropriate NPC. Exchange that weapon, along with some additional cost (maybe some coin, plus some/all of the crafting mats that would be required by the soon-to-be crafting blueprint?), to receive a crafting blueprint for that weapon.
This could go some way toward mitigating the “I don’t get tier 1 drops any more now that my world is tier 3” issue. Also it would be handy to be able to craft multiples of a specific item if you know your build favors that specific weapon, without resorting to mindless farming (which then in turn encourages savescumming or duping or other less-than-savory stuff).
I think they mean tier 1 weapon drops. Stuff like claymores, blood rusted swords, etc.. Once you reach a certain point, the realm levels up and all the enemies become stronger and seem to only drop higher tier equipment.
I would love to be able to get recipes to craft every or most armour sets and weapons.
Maybe have it so you can take armour pieces or a weapon you find in the world to a vendor to trade it in for the crafting recipe. Maybe the higher tier the longer it takes to give us the recipe.
This would allow us to craft as many pieces of armour to get those juicy enchantments and look exactly how we want at the same time.
Also maybe armour and weapon stands for our houses to display too
Given the amount of weapons that are/will be in the game, it’s impossible to find them in one playthrough and to make a build with them.
Wouldn’t it be cool if, once you find a weapon, you could destroy them in order to extract the blueprint for you to be able to craft them?
If this is something that is not possible, maybe being able to target farm different weapons would be cool, or maybe have NPC’s from different zones sell them or their blueprint, maybe blueprints drop when killing different enemies?
There are many cool weapons such as the siren queen’s horn that we don’t get to use because their chance to drop is very low, and if they do, we can’t use them because of the enchantment roles! So being able to craft a few would help a lot.
I think this would be a great feature to add in the near future, maybe devs have already though about something similar we’ll see on April 30th!
take my upvote. this would have been much more valuable compared to selling items with enchantment rolls u do not like for a couple of coppers.
got a rare drop, but did not get the right rolls? (and after breach and enchant re-rolling maybe u are out of embers)
just take it to eleanor and let her “study” the weapon. So u get either a blueprint to craft it yourself or a raw, unenchanted version of it to buy from her. (or any other vendor, i just like her)
A quality of life feature I am missing is the ability to create recipies by dismantling gear. Especially for the really rare weapons it is quite frustrating to only find blue gear or finding white gear only to enchant into blue.
The possibility to get recipies like this would allow the players to use the crafting system more in depth and interact with it more.
I feel like sacrificing the very same weapon or even two of the same would be a fair trade for a recipie.
Either this or allow for re-enchanting of weapons to get the desired enchantment type would be a great feature.
