Help with equipement upgrades

Hi all,
I have a question regarding upgrades of weapons and armor.
So I have played for a while and upgraded my equipment a lot , so that now anything new I find is weaker than what I am using. But how can I know if any new pieces of equipment would actually be better than what I am using, if I upgrade it too? Will it maybe have better stats after upgrading?

Also for weapons for which I don’t have requirement/stats to properly use it, is there a way to see true stats (damage) it would have if I had the requirement ?

Thanks for any tips.

Hey there,

we have started a Wiki post with some basic information here: The Official Wicked Wiki

You can find tables there with basic information on different equipment tiers. Unfortunately we did not fill it with more data yet (so far). But your post gave me the idea to maybe get some upgrade data there as well, like another table with basic values of upgraded equipment.

Maybe we’ll wait out the next update and see what maybe changed. And maybe some more people from the community and/or the dev team will help with filling the wiki.

Otherwise you might just have to experiment a bit. But i think equipment tiers 1<2<3 … and material can be a starting point. I am sure fully upgraded plate will def. be better than fully upped leather for example, but also requires other upgrade materials. Since we have to wait for the update anyways, why not upgrade a few pieces and see where the values go?

To compare weapons, you can use the character’s characteristics window; it displays the damage bonus from the control characteristic that the character will receive when equipping a weapon; one weapon will have, say, +6 and another at the same level of improvement will have +12; it is worth paying attention to this indicator. Also, the base damage indicator of the same type of weapon may differ, it is worth taking this into account. Two identical rapiers can have different base damage, even when purchased from a merchant, this is also worth taking into account, but still, first of all, the bonus of the control characteristic that the weapon receives will mainly influence. Typically, the higher the base level of the weapon, the greater the damage bonus from the characteristic.

Thanks for your replies. I still have no idea how to determine if some weapon is worth upgrading or not

Here are 2 weapons with the same control characteristic: 1 rapier weapon has a base rank of 1 and has a stat bonus of +9, while it is enchanted and improved to the maximum, 2 kaktan weapons have a base rank of 2, its stat bonus is +15 at the same time, it is not enchanted and not improved to the maximum, but the total damage is already higher by 1, due to the bonus from the control characteristic.

The higher the base rank of a weapon, the greater its potential for improvement due to bonus damage from the control characteristic.

OK, lets say I am a new player, just started the game and I obtained these 2 weapons:

So I see mace has better damage and I decide to keep it because of that. But that’s wrong, because I then discover upgrading and I realize sword will be better after one upgrade:

So I decide to upgrade the sword. But then again, I have no idea what would happen if I actually upgrade the mace 2 - 3 times or more. Maybe second mace upgrade would be +5 to damage, and sword only +2, so in the end mace would be stronger.
My question is, are we gonna be able to see max upgraded values of each weapon before we start the upgrading, or is it intentionally gonna be hidden, or random or whats the plan?

In this situation, the mace will have more damage. If they have the same bonus from the characteristic. Regarding the improvement, you can go to the blacksmith and see how much the damage will increase with one improvement on both the sword and the mace. Essentially, in this situation, these weapons are the same + - 1 - 2 damage, but this is not the damage indicator that is worth worrying about. In this situation, the decisive factor will be the enchantment you place on them. Selecting a weapon based only on damage that is ±2 is not a good idea. If you don’t take into account enchantments, I select a weapon based on what kind of attack animation it has, its base speed, what kind of rune attack it has. As for the comparison of crushing and cutting weapons, you do not take into account the fact that a mace with damage can increase its penetration of balance, but a sword does not. I would advise at the initial stages of the game to choose a weapon from a blacksmith that you can buy, for example a rusty sword, and enchant it until you get something good, regardless of +2 damage, it has a base damage or -2 compared to other weapons, it also has a good rune attack that requires only 50 concentration and it makes 2 hits in 1 attack, which allows you to restore twice as much concentration. If you have a spell to restore concentration or a stone to restore concentration in it or in the torch if you take it in your second hand. In addition, it is cheap, which allows you to carry out enchantments in large quantities. With such a sword, I closed all the content that is now, even though it is rank 1. Therefore, in general, you shouldn’t bother and you need to choose any weapon that suits you and your playing style. Excalibur has been created
It doesn’t matter if you take a sword or a mace, just take it and enchant it until you get something out of it that you need for your build.

it is because of the scaling in that case. the mace scales with faith (the two hands in prayer symbol) while the sword scales with strength. So you need to keep in mind what attributes you skilled when leveling your character.

When a weapon scales with STR you get more dmg bonus if your character has a lot of strength and so on.

Only if you redistribute the characteristics. Regarding the equipment. Only enchantment and armor rank matter. You won’t notice the difference between 1000 armor and 1100 armor, but you will notice 30 percent of health or concentration from enchantments very strongly.
