"GAIA system" would fit really well in NRFTW, in 3 possible ways

I’ve just tried out a game called Achilles: Legends Untold for a little bit (a game with both souls-like and isometric tags) and noticed a very interesting system they had for enemies where some enemies would employ coordinated attacks against me. On further inspection, it seems like the dev team behind it call it the “GAIA system” - Group AI Actions.

Most noticeably, I saw a shield‑bearer crouching so another enemy can leap off him for a diving attack. I think a system like that would fit really well into NRFTW, as well as help a lot with replayability of zones when different types of enemies that end up next to each other combine attacks you’ve never seen before.

That being said, I think there are two other possible ways you could take this even further or better said, approach it from a different angle as well. Now that the CO-OP update launched, I thought to myself that these kind of coordinated attacks could be really cool for players to make as well. I think it would add quite a lot to the teamwork feel you’re trying to achieve in co-op based on everything I’ve seen so far.

A third possible way is more conditional on if a class will end up being implemented or not in the game, namely Necromancer. Should you succeed in implementing this class without trivializing the game in the process (hopefully), this system could be very interesting to mix up with a summoner class as well.. giving commands to minions to do such coordinated attacks. Personally, I don’t think I’ve seen something like that being done before, so it would be an interesting first as well.

At the very least, I think the one for enemy AI should be considered as I feel it would fit really well in NRFTW. In the meanwhile, me and my friend will be patiently waiting for the 1.0 release to play (as much as it itches me to do it right now). I will still try to provide some feedback of hopeful value from the sidelines when I feel like it makes sense, because I really want this game to be the most successful it can be! Thank you very much for reading if you did <3

Why copying Deep game mechanics from different games with different concepts. Other Systems will never fit, unless you change the whole System of your game. Can get only worse

I’m obviously not saying they should “copy” it, but I think it could serve as great inspiration for NRFTW… just as Final Fantasy Tactic’s Class system serves as inspiration for NRFTW’s future class system, like Thomas has said on numerous occasions.

It’s just an opinion that I’m throwing out there, of course. It’s for them to decide if it’s actually something they’d feel inspired by,

Looking forward of the new updates, especially the new skill System. Could become interesting

Team attacks would be so siiick

Leaping off of friends shield to pulverize the enemy sounds epic

Would be really cool to have a bunch of different union attacks based off of weapon types and such

Cool idea!

Right?! I played a bit more of it today and I saw another two different interactions… one where if a bunch of different types of skeletons were together they would unite into a bigger one with different abilities… and another where a giant troll-like monster would pick up barrels or even allies and throw them at me.

I thought the skeletons forming a bigger one was similar to what last epoch did with their Bone Construct thing but they kind of lost the flavor of it by making it a permanent minion in a way, I feel. Perhaps a fusion with a friend for a few seconds could be cool instead? haha.. maybe!

The second one though.. I could totally see myself throwing my friend like the troll guy did…. would make for some fun times for sure. Marvel Rivals actually does that with Hulk and Wolverine so it’s not unprecedented.
