I am concerned about the 1600+ negative reviews.
Someone suggested in the discord that there be experimental builds, which might be a good idea.
If the Breach update had a Experimental build before main release this might have reduced the amount of negative reviews.
It’s EA everything is an experimental build. Problem is, players don’t have dev tools so there’s no experimenting going on.
You either like it, and keep playing or hate the changes, have no way to go back to the game as it was and just put the game down until they patch again.
Testing things is fine, that’s what EA is for any people bitching over save states, etc should just wait until release if they don’t understand the meaning of EA.
That said and back to the testing, we aren’t Testing. We’re reacting to what is the live version. If we could toggle/test new features I think it’d go a long way.
Patch notes should include features they have fixed aka bugs. Then the devs can list the KEY changes they are attempting to test in sed update and let people give feedback. If we could split the patch and swap builds related to mechanics and feel it out it.
A. Gives people high points the devs are looking to review.
B. Shifts the discussion to I tried both, here is my feedback.
And lastly, this was always going to happen with a patch of this size. Shame on anyone for expecting differently.
Wanna know why the scientific method works to identify cause and effect relationships. Because you have a control and you don’t change every fucking variable at the same time…
The player character got roll swapped into playing the victim in this patch and people don’t like it, ok, move on.
Oh and please for the love of gaming revert the camera. I don’t want to play the game zoomed in like a side scroller while enemies are using sweeping attacks making identifying the hit box an infuriating task.
Oh and yes my review has swapped back to neg from positive and will go back to pos when I can honestly recommend it to a friend.
Negative steam reviews can ruin a company.
Its like people are putting negative feedback in the wrong place, but there is no alternative.
That’s why in my opinion an experimental build would be a good idea, at least for a few weeks before main release.
I’m sure some people will, sure. I can’t speak for them, nor want to. I’ve been extremely active in voicing my grievances with the game on their official platforms.
Steam review to me is more, would I recommend this, and when I can honestly recommend to a friend it will go right back to pos. But I also can’t abide looking at a post review with 500+ hr when I’m struggling to want to play the game so I flipped it until it’s a point my vote aligns with my feelings.
You’d be thrilled to know streamers and play testers were given access to the patch prior to release. So either they just thought it was dope, or they didn’t play the real live version. Or last but not least they gave neg feedback and Moon pushed the release to hit the date regardless.
Who knows? I won’t speculate but just… The more you know. The game did have some level of a soft launch pre going live.
And yet here we are with 1700+ negative reviews where a good amount of them will never be switched to positive when the issues are resolved.
For sure, humans suck, not a fan.
Probably the same people who cut me off in traffic every morning.
All we can do is continue to have a voice if we care about the game and hope that the good will outshine the bad and hope Moon will end up getting it right.
If you couldn’t tell I’m pulling for them, but just as conflicted and not optimistic at this very moment. This patch felt like a big pushing there agenda/vision of the game and again harping on the camera… It’s like who was asking for this? No one. And I dislike it so much that I’m left torn about how much I loved the game previously.
The feeling of joy has been replaced with doubt that I even understood what they were going after in the first place. Or in other words. Did I even like the game or did I just like the version of the game that was unfinished and doesn’t reflect the game Moon wants to make.
Anywho, time will tell. Oh well..
Don’t lose heart. Just like No Man’s Sky, it’s all about making the end product good. Reviews always turn around when a game is made good.
Mixed reviews in early access games is actually pretty common. It’s just that most people only remember Baldur’s Gate, but forget other games. And Baldur’s Gate was an anomaly and very deliberate in that they only released the most polished part of the game for testing instead of the broken mess that was Act 3 and even the buggy Act 2 which they had to hotfix later.
Leave your feedback, and trust that Moon will look at telemetry and reviews and make the necessary adjusments before 1.0
Review has been updated to positive following the hotfix. Just got home and able to play. Thank goodness I can recommend this game to a friend once again.
Not perfect, plenty to go as a EA game should be this far from launch. Not in love with the new camera but the combat feels playable now.
I still feel strongly that the early game Level 1-6 needs major love but I digress.
