No it doesn’t.
I do and so does my entire group I play with.
It’s not.

Agreed. It should be optional at most.
The people crying about FF frankly just want to mash buttons. I have gotten to max level across multiple realms with multiple friends new to these kinds of games with minimal friendly casualties.
The game is souls-like gameplay which includes friendly fire. Enemies also can damage and kill allies, removing it would create huge imbalance to combat. Making it significantly lacking in impact of decision making and when you decide to attack.
For those that want to complain that it becomes a waiting game, there are loads of runes to do ranged attacks in any weapon and 3 weapon slots. There are plenty of tools to mend that gap. You cannot attack endlessly anyway with the nature of stamina in the game anyway.
As your Cerim gets stronger, so does the weight of your decisions. They can behead your friends or incinerate them with lightning.
You are just contrarian without proper arguments. Fine.
PVP is going to be in the game btw.
We already have PvP…
That’s what “friendly fire” is…
You pass off opinion and preference as fact. Neither require any logical discourse.
It is a fact. You just choose to not see it.
“You are just contrarian without proper arguments. Fine.”
hahahahaha… i will stop replying to your posts since you are obviously just here to make things YOUR WAY, even with people explaining, reasonably, why is it like it is.
You don’t like it? Play something else. Period.
Irony
Haven’t seen a single example of this.
Nah. I’ll continue to play a game I paid for and offering an opinion I and many others share.
No it really wouldn’t. Most meta builds are immortal vs NPCs and just 1 shotting mobs and bosses anyways. This isn’t necessary for balance in any form. But as a melee (btw I have near 90% on all resistances and somehow I’m still getting blown up), I just have to deal with my buddy who’s a mage chunking half my health or my buddy that’s an archer chunking half my health and not to mention both of them flash banging my screen and none of us being able to see where each other are at due to various screen effects and the camera that for some reason isn’t independent for your character.
in its current implementation, friendly fire is not fun for everyone. There are various aspects of the game that contribute to it in some form but it’s obviously not present for everyone.
Realm settings to toggle are a must. Anyone arguing otherwise just has some weird elites view on the subject. You can easily decide for yourself how you want to play, without trying to force that on others. Friendly fire has always been a controversial feature in general and having it as a realm option solves both sides
We get it, you don’t like ff. Are you just going to spam every reply though? Kinda childish. Let other people express their opinions.
Honestly I didn’t like the ff at first either. I was trying to use the bow and having ANY quiver equipped meant large aoe explosions. But my buddy and I got adjusted and now we’re ping ponging enemies back and forth with dual gauntlets like we’re itadori and Todo.
So yeah, a lot of the complaints about FF do seem to just be about people not synergizing their weapons or builds. But its also a completely valid point that ff does limit viable builds in coop. While personally I will not be toggling off ff, I have nothing against them adding no ff for easy mode or as a toggle for those that want it. But also, if that doesn’t match the devs vision for the game, that’s their choice. End of the day they are trying to make their unique vision of an ARPG. If you don’t like it, go play Diablo or PoE…

See how that goes?
What can i say? Skill issues?
As i said, we have 1 ranger, 1 mage, 1 DD with 2h and pretty wide swings and me as a mixed melee… and we BARELY feel the FF at all… having also the mage that hits monsters for like 3k we never died once because of it’s presence.
Again.. skill issues? At this point it is.
Skill issues to cooperate
Skill issues to coordinate
Skill issue on applying tactics on where and how attack.
No, FF is still nerfed damage. Even at the high level. I average 350 dmg with gauntlets and do half the damage to team mates.
While I get the perspective of choice - the toggle needs to initiate some type of realm change that makes enemies more difficult. Especially if players do not deal with a consequence present in enemy AI. If no FF becomes an option.
If your teammates are the ones causing you damage, they are not saying “move” or “backup” and if they are you are not listening. Again consequence of decision is the idea of current design. Conflict exists within the team, which is also why loot is also not instanced per player. It would also break economy.
Elden Ring Nightreign - the definitive version of co-op for Elden Ring is FF regardless of what the player wishes. Your sentiments on the camera I cannot disagree with. Reducing camera shake can help significantly but it feels a bit boring without it.
I do hope Thomas implements the 3rd person toggle he discussed in the last FAQ at least while we are in EA as an option. I think this would solve a lot of sentiment around people not liking FF currently.
Your responses offer no depth or explanation to your frustrations. Simple child-like NO ITS BAD. REMOVE NOW. Offer nothing to a conversation about how it can be changed.
Maybe use more words and articulate an argument, if you’re even capable of that.
About the “changes” i even made a topic (that you commented in) about what can eventually be done to those that are so scared of FF. Because removing it, means that it literally is a mindless “keyboard bashing”.
I read it when I first setup on here. You made great points and I also agree - I couldn’t see how an iteration of no FF would work better. Because a simple off would really just make the game quite boring and inconsequential to player decision.
I think a middle ground could also be maintaining stagger with no damage. So you can still knock friends off a ledge if you swing carelessly.
350 damage is literally nothing. Like I said, I have 3 mage team mates that do upwards of 3k with aoe and at 90% ALL resistances I take a quarter of hp damage from their attacks. Meanwhile any monster I get attacked by I take virtually nothing. My teammates are bigger threats to my life than any NPC could be with the current meta of Damage Res % of Current Durability. So your point on balancing is pretty moot.
Also, there really doesn’t need to be a reason to justify it. People don’t want to play with FF and they don’t need a reason, having a enough players with the sentiment in a co-op (one where you can control difficulty already and make it as easy or as hard as you want) has zero impact on your experience. It’s just clear there’s a lot of you weird elitists in here that want everyone to play the exact experience you do. This is like crying that people don’t want to play Skyrim in Survival mode or Minecraft in Hardcore. More options only means everyone can enjoy the game the way they want. It doesn’t need “balance” because it’s not an mmo, it’s a co-op story game.
