I’m sorry, but if the problem you and all these other people are having is what you’re saying it is, then I’m not gatekeeping. Gatekeeping what? Your fun? By telling that food is there, you just have to take it?
Even if I’m being aggressive about it, my point is “Please engage with the game”.
If you’re having a problem you should try to solve it. Have you searched for more food? Have you changed your approach to combat to try losing less health? Have you explored for more resources? Have you checked for healing runes at the shop? My guess is no, because otherwise your problems would mostly be solved.
The game has a lot of problems, it’s early access after all, but the scarcity of healing resources is not one of them.
If whispers heal you, you can just ping pong between the next enemy and fully heal on whisper. Its not intended and I would not recommend to put fully heal on Whispers into the game. This is not Dark Souls, no respawn of minions, no Estus System. This game is different and put in TP´s between whispers and fully heal on them would make this game much worse.
Thats exactly the point. Ping ponging between whispers and a mob you are struggling with to exploit the healing mechanic. In other games like Dark Souls, all enemies are reset if you heal at a bonfire. In NRFTW you could kill one enemy of the mob then run back to the whisper to heal and then back to the mop to finiish the next enemy and so on without needing to consume any healing items. And also in contrary to Dark Souls, this game is getting a multiplayer too, which would also lead to problems in case for example your friend heals at a whisper and would reset all enemies in the realm…maybe you have just slain a difficult enemy and seconds later your ally heals himself at a whisper and your just slain enemy is back on his feet again. Thomas Mahler made a longer interview with a streamer which was recorded after the breach update between Hotfix 1 and Hotfix 2. This topic about whispers is also dicussed in this interview [and also other interesting points]. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/kUu7Z2tWPq8?si=n-KJjpbILoP_THlk
Your focus should be completely filled on whispers or atleast after death.
So you can actually use ur runes before a boss fight.
For example illuminate or other buffs.
I had to fight the boss in complete darkness with my two handed weapons, or had to run mid fight to activate the illuminate rune.
Its simply ridiculous and pointless.
And also refill the focus in the boss chamber of the crucible.
Maybe even in every chamber.
focus based builds are already pretty strong. i am strongly against refilling focus around every corner. if that is an issue for you, adjust your build, re-roll enchantments, infuse, use potions etc.
My character is like a train.
Ive already created a topic about rune nerfs.
But this one is not about balance its about quality of life and solving problems.
You need to understand this.
getting free focus around every corner is not QoL it can be gamebreaking.
and things like illuminate, return etc might get moved to “utility rune slots” in the future, so u can move them independently, see here: Utility Runes - Thomas's Twitter
Idk if the utility runes use focus, if yes then you still need focus.
Like i said runes need to be nerfed anyways.
And you dont get focus thrown around, its litterally just after ur death.
Mostly the case in boss fights.
And suggested in the last boss chamber in crucible.
So you can use ur entire build correctly.
According to that the whole game needs to be balanced anyways.
But this is a quality of life fix.
Like in all souls games you spawn with full health and mana and buff urself up before you fight the boss.
Thats common knowledge and nothing new.
But in other souls games you didnt had to fight bosses in complete darkness.
Like i said i dont know if the utility runes will use focus on this matter.
the issue here is, as thomas said multiple times, that things like that only work in Souls because enemies respawn on each rest or death. in wicked they do not. meaning u could just jump off a cliff to refill all your bars, without the need to clear an area again.
and within crucible u have to strategically play around it. if u need focus for the boss, just fill your bar in the last chamber before.
like i said, the regain at every whisper or chamber was just secondary and needs to be discussed.
But the regain on death for the bosses is a must.
Specially with dark areas in general. Since i dont know about utility usage.
Maybe create a bigger death consequence, thats needed anyways.
But nothing that makes every boss attempt harder.
But before every boss you have to have full focus.
Basics.
I hope this will be solved to make a proper game.
Nah, its unnecessary imo. The only time i wish i had some focus regain is when im trying to test different runes, but thats issue of mine can be fixed by just implementing training dummies in the game (i think top of the sacrament has an area for this, would be great to have it here)
This problem is easily solved with either a torch or elemental damage charms on weapons. I have seen this rune but have never used it. If you do not want to enchant weapons for elemental damage, you can simply use elemental grease on weapons in such caves. The developers have provided a bunch of options in this situation, choose any and use it.
electric elemental is not enough to lighten the boss and when ur build is based on electric you cant just switch it.
Torch doesnt work for two handers.
And like i said buffing up with a damage rune for example, which is provided by the game, is also part of ur gear/build.
This is a no brainer to refill focus on death.
And the comparison with soulsgame enemy respawns, doesnt work.
Because unlike in soulsgames where you have like 10-14 heals until you touch a checkpoint, you have like unlimitted heal in wicked when ur out of combat.
So there is simply no difference if you touch a whisper if ure near by or if you heal urself with unlimitted food.
On top of that this game has op lifesteal.
This game simply makes everything wrong and then adds extremely annoying things into it to “compensate” their own mistakes from before.
And thats exactly what youre doing aswell.
Because most people dont actually understand the matter.
Thats why im here and put my time into this with easy and fast fixes that can be implemented withing minutes and make the game twice as good.
So i hope the devs are atleast smart enough to recognize genius if they see it in the forums and use it, since they cant come up with solution by their own.
You coming into the forum calling the devs out for (in your own words):
‘making everything wrong’
‘adding extremely annoying things to compensate their mistakes’
‘boss fights are so extremely bad and some combat mechanics are so unimaginable bad’
‘so incredibly bad in many points’
And also diminish the work that goes into game development by saying:
‘my fixes are deliberatly easy and fast to implement with a big positive impact on the game’
‘Thats why im here and put my time into this with easy and fast fixes that can be implemented withing minutes and make the game twice as good.’
And finishing with the hilarious…
‘So i hope the devs are atleast smart enough to recognize genius if they see it in the forums and use it, since they cant come up with solution by their own.’
Man, you must be fun at parties, git gud and stop ranting in here with your harsh comments and feel of superiority, if you are such a genius why can’t you manage to beat the bosses?
Also, regarding the i-frames when in the ground, I bet you have taken advantage of enemies being in the ground and beating the shit out of them, huh?
I’ll just leave my thought here that whispers should not heal the player.
I agree with the other replies that this would lead to easy exploitation of this mechanic because enemies do not respawn.
Additionally, you can now heal for free when resting on a bed in Caroline’s inn (once upgraded), which adds a necessary overhead so it’s not easily exploitable, the way simply interacting with a whisper would be.
