I had an idea similar to Facets when I wrote The RNG Problem, Enchantment System Vs Gem System (Refined) I called them balanced gems and they serve to customize the build, like “your urns do 50% more damage but cost 50% more focus.” They are zero-sum changes that change the way you play, but obviously, being gems, the player decides whether to use them or not. While Facets are random and have some useless features that don’t affect gameplay, I’ve often had to throw away an item because I didn’t like the Facet.
