Gear has already been quite customizable with Enchantments and Gems that have different effects. While the newest update reduced RNG with multiple new Embers (that could have been handled in a simpler way), it added a new kind of RNG with Facets.
Facets are essentially another kind of Plagued Enchantment, just occupying a new slot and adding more grind to the crafting process.
In the future, you could justify adding a new mechanic called Traits, and those would also give some kind of bonus, so on and so forth, but it does not add anything of real value to the game, just bloating and making the system more intimidating.
Consider trying to make the game intricate with well-designed combat and balanced Weapon move sets, not just adding more affix-adjacent features.
i rly dont understand why going away from the old ember system, which was lots of RNG, yes, to make it a little more deterministic for the ppl that complained about spending hundreds of embers to get their perfect item ( which imo isnt even a bad thing considering you get the one BiS you want ) just to then add another RNG system on top of the whole now bloated ember system that has the exact same problem what ppl complained about before.

plus you cant change the value of the downsides now at all so you gotta reroll that anyway until you get the lowest one anyway or did i miss something there?
I agree, they already can’t manage what they have now, both the facets, the enchantments, the weapons, and the rings are unbalanced, there are effects that are too weak and some that are too strong and everything is left to be managed by the RNG, all the effects are multiplicative, the new gems that improve the effects multiply everything even more.
I don’t understand how they can introduce a new system when these are so unbalanced The new embers alleviate the problems of the enchantments but do not solve them…
I’m sure that if the Traits are as beautiful/fun as they describe them, then they will start saying to remove the other redundant systems.
