What facet were you trying to craft? Iāve seen some bug reports of certain facets not showing up on some gear.
Oof. Worstā¦luckā¦ever. I think the most Iāve had to craft is around 20. I did put 60 or so embers in to a plague downside once though.
Yeah, pretty bad luck on that one. 60 embers! ouch! I usually get downside in 15 or less ![]()

Well thought out, and articulated.
This topic is an important one for me and is currently my least favourite part of making new builds. Your suggestions are good, although I couldnāt careless about how the facet system is fixed and more about the fact that it will (should) be fixed.
See my recent comment showing 39 crafted armors before getting the facet I wantedā¦
I was thinking about this today! Make researcheable recipes for facets and demand an expensive ingredient like a gem or ember.
Instead of wasting most of our materials on RNG that have very low chance to get your ideal facet, can we do things like⦠put in extra materials on the crafting bench?
For example: 1 iron sword required
2 - iron
2 - wood
For a crit facet, you have to put in extra materials like:
2 - siren claw
2 - wolf claw
You get the idea.
Iām totally down with this idea. Upvoted.
I totally agree with the idea that facets add a little too much of a randomness into crafting. I would suggest a slightly another approach: when a player crafts an item, they can choose one of the options:
- craft it with a random facet which is not discovered for this item yet
- craft it with one of the facets which is already discovered
- (optional) craft it with no facet
So discovering facets will be similar to what we have for discovering items, but you canāt put papers in for random research it or just find an item with a particular facet - you need to actually craft it. It can even look the same in terms of HUD: also a list/table of items with a question mark as the first option (and maybe āno facetā as the second one).
I think the facet system should be reworked. Instead of being random like it is now, players should be able to add a specific material to a crafting recipe to determine the facet outcome. For example, adding iron ore could give Duration, and adding Amethyst could give Purified, rather than having everything be completely random as it is now.
I understand that the developers want to increase the gameās playtime, but with the current fully random system, it feels more like torture than having a real crafting goal to work toward.
