Not entirly sure if this is a feature or bug report.
I wanted to move the damage surge rune to the last slot in my weapon.
So I extracted the rune from another needle spear, however then I just get a Utility only rune.
To be honest, why not just allow utility runes on weapons? This will give players more flexability in how in runes.
And sometimes only allowing 4 utility runes, feels like I can’t use other ones. When playing 2handed weapon you kinda forced to take illuminate since you cannot hold a torch, and then you want a heal and return rune. Leaving only 1 utility rune to choose from.
Also I almost never seem to end up needing 4 offensive runes in my weapons anyway.
I think they moved these runes to utility slot only with co-op update. I still have old weapons with these runes but i cant slot these runes to the new weapons.
Is it possible that you extracted this rune from pre-patch weapon?
Edit: Oh its default rune for this spear but the problem is the same. They moved these runes to the utility slot and maybe forgot about this weapon which comes with utility rune by default
You need to put this rune into the utility rune slot it cant be socketed into the weapon anymore.
Technically you are correct DexteR, but Tomitaki is also right that these runes got moved to Utility not to long ago. Eventually they will replace these utility runes on weapons.
