the amount of grinding/farming necesary to upgrade the town at the moment is quite frankly ridiculous.
several hundred total resources are needed to upgrade the town, with only 1-2 obtained per node, this means that even dedicated farming will still take several hours of farming to build up the town, and thats assuming you already know a good farming route for each resource
the only other games i can think of with similar levels of resource grind are multiplayer “survival” games like ark, which is not what wicked was advertised as
resource demand for building needs to be smaller, i like the aspect of building up the town, but it is FAR to costly and time consuming at the moment to do so
First area you can get more than 60 logs, there are a lot of trees there, problem is the nameless pass is not fully implemented yet, so you can get max 25 logs for the next upgrades, but some guy went off bounds and the trees are there, i guess when the game gets more content, and that area is expanded, it will be easier.
This actually didn’t bother me that much. With a little more than 15+ hour invested only on these you can upgrade your entire base. I reccomend to upgrade the blacksmith and locksmith, to get the better farming items. Later it becomes super easy. I think for the chances you are able to do, it’s ok, because as of right now you wouldn’t even have the money to apreciate if upgrading was faster.
Material collection did not bother me. If you engage with every node on your way you should have enough to upgrade the shops. It was also a smart move to not grant access to all shops at the same time, as the cook and alchemist won’t be available to all players from the start.
I would advise to create additional realms if you think your material collection is impaired. After you beat the tutorial boss you will have access to all areas, so that you do not need to progress the story to gather more materials.
material collection is such a chore you are advising to create multiple worlds just for time consuming material farming as its even more time consuming and tedious for a single playthrough
do you not see how that is just not fun or good design?
I do not see the issue, because as I already mentioned, when you explore the maps for the first time and collect every resource node on you way you should have enough materials to upgrade the most imortant shops. When you go out for the second time you should have enough for every upgrade.
For a seasoned player, collecting enough materials takes minutes and not hours in contrary to what you say.
The marked area right next to town alone has 10 wood; 3 copper and 1 dig spot with only one enemy spawn.
I do not see the issue, because when you engage with the world and explore you will get enough. Town upgrades are a one time investment and as such they are reasonably priced.
Its not, i dont create other realms for the basics, and nameless pass is not finished yet too, so there will be enough trees there after release to do all upgrades of that level in one go.
I create other realms for the materials that have no way to be gathered from killing now, like bears and stags parts, but you can do that with multiple characters too, new build and such, and since you first one should have all the best tools you can just gift those for your new char.
First area before Worrick has more than 30 trees, i usually get out of there with 60+trunks, copper lags behind though, but thats because i dont go inside the Yona cave, since i have no more inventory space anyway i prefer to go to town and then comeback, there are 5 copper nodes in there, 2 irons and 1 silver.
