Its so not mandatory, have you played Kena bridge of spirits? That game had an abnoxious little side activity that had timers and no hit runs, annoying as hell, the rewards were not only cosmetics, but you got some itens that made the game easier, i did a couple and never went back, dont like timed quests, beat the game just fine ( great game btw, grab it on a sale, its worth it, aside form that of course hehehe).
Same thing here, its only mandatory if they put some item in there that bar the main story progression, which they wont.
Iâm 100% gonna exalt my gear no question about it. The upgrades can be insane, one of my weapons went from 16% Heat damage to 40% Heat damage - across an affix and gem slot.
Heat Damage Affix: 11 â 25 Gem: 5 â 15
Not even gonna mention the other items that get maxed like various rings. It is a massive upgrade. But, yes I do think you can clear the current content without it. So it is not mandatory. But, it lessens the frustration with enchanting and trying to get high percentages etc. We already spend too much time farming gear and getting lucky on enchants so I am fairly happy with exalting. It removes another RNG layer.
I also think PvP will go poorly in the game as it stands currently. There has to be some baseline or limitation to affixes. Maybe some unlock progression similar to For Honor and have Arenaâs or Battle Grounds. And then the optional 1v1 in your current gear as people want that. But, it is sooo much harder to balance.
First no I donât agree youâre worried that itâs mandatory overall for base game which it isnât and never will be with how hard EK is and yet still doesnât require exaltation.
2nd I do think it outright should be almost mandatory for very, very postgame endgame content and why shouldnât it be, thatâs for the hardcore fans who have to buildctaft exactly like raids. I shouldnât be able to wave my hand and the boss dies
Third thatâs pretty dumb then, you want a homogenized system? I play a shit ton of JRPGs some party members I do not care about and never max out thereby missing out on certain buffs, abilities, comboes, etc do you really believe everyone maxes out all their party members? what you want everybody to share the same skill tree? You say if the system exists people will naturally go and try to max it out, do you know how few people even FINISH a game?
iâm a bit disappointed also for a lack of new area to play.
We need to raise the maxinum level !
We need more contents to play !
And when we need that ? for yesterday as alwaysâŚ
New update is amazing but, what you think about go over and make game pretty (over all grapics improvmentâŚ) later ?
I think Iâll forget about this game until next year (if it goes well)
PS. a funny things happen with this update, I managed to kill the boss with 2 hits, one per life bar. Iâm afraid something is buggy.
Game is great and i see the lack of patience from players as a good sign actually, people want more, but these things take time, if the devs under cook the next update it might come out full of bugs, i dont mind waiting.
As for crucible, Echo is tankier than ever now hehehe, took me a long time to get to phase 2 and since im not used to that phase yet he proceed to kick my behind, guess i will have to grind for those crystals and get me some exalted gear.
nah donât you know man, every impatient person is actually an expert gamedev at Riot games. They in fact know from expert, personal experience that major expansions to story, zones, weapons, mechanics, and balancing are capable of being done every 2-3 months. After all Shadow of the Erdtree came out in 2 months from production everyone knows this
Arenât series of any form of Media successful? Arenât lots of indie and Storygames already doing that? Dripfeeding the story is a success model.
Also, have u never binged a series again after watching it episode by episode over years? Have u never read a Comic series again? Havenât u ever played again through a series of game titles? For nostalgy/complete experience purposes? ⌠If u donât want to be spoiled, donât spoil yourself and wait, but EA is not really the space where we should care⌠We signed up for being spoiled.
Not offering any new content makes people lose interest (myself included), even in EA. Especially after the long wait.
No new Story, no truly new gameplay or even some kind of balance update?
The game is not really playable for me, because of a bug and all I am is mildly annoyed, which is very sad.
Meanwhile I farm every Hades update, because one will never know what Story Beat comes next, what playstyle will be viable, what abilities will be overhauled/replaced/introduced. All Moon has to do is tweak some numbers⌠from my pov all they did with this patch is (stealth) nerf my chars compared to EK and introduce a (currently) worse Hades experience which gates mandatory item upgrades and prevents me from leveling my chars with endgame content.
@laki represents the part of the playerbase, that donât ignores game goals and expects ARPG content. Be a bit more respectful.
Have you ever played an ARPG to the max?
Have you ever played a Soulslike to the max? Optimizing playstyles and maxing stats every chance you get, even if not mandatory, is actually the interesting part to lots of players.
Forcing people to play a (currently) worse Hades in a game not advertised as a RogueLite, if wanting to play optimally, does not appeal to everybody.
Again with the disrespect. Tune down your talking down, itâs not a good attitude.
Content of any kind can come in smaller parts.
Also I really do not get, why they donât do balance updates to keep the game fresh for the people focussed on gameplay. For me personally impatience results from the lack of stuff to do and to try. Tweaking some numbers shouldnât take much development time, keep players engaged and give information about the state of balance.
have you never been fully saturated with a game without finishing it? i played fallout 4 for i donât know, 150h and still havenât finished it, because at some point i had the feeling i have seen it all. now it lies ded in my library. and it is not the only game like that. same happened to skyrim, dayz, subnautica etc.
and you canât really compare series and games. passive watching and active gaming are two completely different things. sure i watch star trek TNG for the 100th time, but mostly i fall asleep after 20 mins. do u fall asleep while playing?
its like comparing riding the train or driving your own car.
and aside from all that i have heard from quite a few people already, that they feel like they lose interest, if we get new stuff every few weeks.
if you have 500h before release and u have played all story chapters, so why would anyone still play when its release?
people just assume EA is there to please them, and give them new shit every so often, while it is just not. EA is like open betas or alphas back in the days. people could test a part of the game to iron out the bugs and then had to wait months or years for release, without a chance to get drip fed. and it was a good concept, you got hyped for what you played and even more to come.
I wouldnât want new story content and would much rather have new and updated systems in place.
An updates story means that we can play more, but one of the biggest issues with the game currently is creating new builds. It is a MASSIVE time sink. Finding the specific weapon you want can take hours, and then when you do find one you get to play the enchantment lottery.
Now imagine that for specific armor pieces as well. People will resort to manual gem enchants for the sake of convenience. Or use armor/weapons from vendors.
Once enchanting/crafting/resource farming gets improved, in that same update I would want some new story content. So we can test the new systems alongside the new story.
Riot Games are having a blast with their balance patches. They once announced that Vladimir had a nerf. And overnight he became less played and people found counters for him.
Sure I have. And precisely with those games you mentioned. But none of these Games are Story focussed or Gameplay focussed games. They are all open world, exploration focus. There is no âdriveâ so to say. Wicked is ARPG + Story so double drive.
Actually yes And yes of course I can. Why not? Try some Visual Novel like games and you can see how fast the lines blur.
Where are the people that lose interest because of new Stuff?
Because the game is that good? Because its still evolving? Because you play with friends? Because it fills a Niche in your gaming mood? Because it has enough replay value? Because the game evolved during EA shifting its experience resulting in a fresh game? Lots of reasons.
Times have changed. Early Access first and foremost means early access. It is not like open betas or alphas. It is evolving constantly. Ideally at a continuous pace. And yes Early Access is a tool to develop the game, but it should also be there to entertain the players aka testers, for obvious reasons. From my PoV dripfeeding Story and Balance Updates is a BIG advantage of an Early Access title (in contrast to all the disadvantages). I really like to see games evolve and adapt over time.
I will consider toning down these sarcastic comments if the haters come at us with good points and not outright lying, pretending to be ARPG experts, or insulting the game randomly because itâs not catering to their every whim.
The amount of people who pretend like the Crucible, a reason to fight and make builds, isnât content in an ARPG, ACTION FUCKING RPG I genuinely cannot understand. These people to me are addicts who just want a straight train ride which is shocker often not how ARPG are. ARPGs often expect you to derail from story and quests to do whatever the fuck you want whether thatâs trying to kill an unbeatable boss, making a new class, etc.
All these people are doing is whining that this game is not a soulslike, when it was never advertised to be a soulslike, when almost every single soulsborne mainstay is missing. If you ask any of these haters if only story updates would make them happy they dodge the question like the question is a final boss, because they donât care about the game, its goals, or what it can provide. They donât care about improving the gameâs mechanics, or pacing, or depth. All they want is that sweet sweet luscious boss fight to trick them into thinking theyâre good at the game followed by a cinematic cutscene.
There are SOOOO many real problems with this game, but the doom and gloom of the Crucible being the first major update isnât one of them especially when it has only been three fucking months of EA. This is not me yelling at you, Iâve seen you in this community, I know you are a good member with contributions, but I cannot stand people who are lying about this gameâs genre/goals, pretending they know at all what to expect from ARPG systems(which commonly have endless dungeons akin to Crucibles). In general I hate that they even pretend to care at all. They donât want this current 6/10-7/10 to become a GOTY contender that can bring changes to the ARPG genre, they want to be dripfed this 7/10 game until 1.0.
Dont go to steam my friend, the doom and gloom people are there in droves, its pathetic really because they dont seen to understand of EA is, they want everything now, one idiot even said that the price of EA shouldnt be of the full game, just of the EA content, go figures.
I agree though, its a vote of confidence we gave the devs that made Ori, we are beta testing the game and the most we can do is give respectful feedback to them, saying what we like or dislike, but knowing full well that maybe they wont deviate too much from their vision of what the game should be, and thats understandable.
Saying that Fallout is not âStory Drivenâ just means that you decided to not pay any attention to the story. Sure its Open World But its VERY story heavy and has been throughout the series. And all games are gameplay focused. If the main loop is killing, doesnt mean that it cant be mixed with exploration of a huge world and The STORIES of the people in said world.
You are allowed to do what ever you are. The main way in which video games differ from movies is that They Are Interactive Media It takes your input and in that way make it a lot more personal and gives the player the feeling of having some sort of way to affect the world in the game.
You also signed up for what ever the development team decide to do and in which ever order they do it. So we can vote one way or another, but still accept their decisions.
You misunderstand. I didnât say Fallout wasnât Story driven. All i meant is the drive of the Story is not very strong -It doesnât push you forward into the action, if anything it slows you down quite substantially, because it is so Story rich. So many interesting Stories ⌠Wish i had the time to play through all the Fallouts again (except 4). ^^â This is btw what i mean with Exploration drive: See all of it, find all secrets, see all the little stories play out.
Did I say anything against that? VN âStyleâ (!) games are very much interactive. Didnât say to go full VN. Every game is a Story btw multiple in fact: The Story of you - the player, the game world and all the characters in it. Some games have more gameplay focus, others more Story focus - Its a spectrum.
I agree. And i do accept them. Doesnât mean that i am not allowed to criticize, or argue for valid points. That is precisely what we are here for in part.
