I really do enjoy the world and mechanics of No Rest for the Wicked. While the online party system is a great addition, I would like to suggest the implementation of a robust Companion System specifically for players who prefer a solo or offline style or experience but still want the tactical depth of a party.
Key Features of the Proposed System:
Full Customization: Allow players to equip their NPC companions with gear, weapons, and runes, just like the main character.
Skill Progression: A dedicated skill tree for companions to complement the player’s build (example; a tank companion for a glass cannon caster).
Gear Synergy: The ability to theory craft builds that rely on the companion’s status effects or positioning.
AI Commands: Basic tactical instructions (Aggressive, Defensive, Follow) to ensure they don’t interfere with the game’s high stakes combat rhythm.
This would provide a rewarding “party” experience for those of us who enjoy the RPG management aspect of the game without the chaos of online play.
I like this. Companions can come from factions or just from Sacrament guards as a start. Give upgradeable building for the guard captain. Can hire guards there for a hefty amount of money and the higher the level the “Barracks”, the more customizable and geared the hired guard/companion can be.
There are already “allies” in-game in certain scenarios so there’s already in place the possibility.
To add more immersion as well, Barracks building can also add in more quests/missions where there are patrols coming and going in certain areas, skirmishes here and there. Helping them can grant chests. Or certain bounties, the guard captain can send a squad to help. Adding more life to the already immersive world.
Kudos to the devs! World of the game is so immersive as it is.
I agree! Coming from games like Dragons Dogma has me loving AI companions. Of course the AI for said companions can be tough to implement, I would think a simple AI that relies on a system where the player chooses how they react to situations would suffice.
In the Together Update, I find it kinda difficult to find buddies to play with regularly. Especially around my schedule. I think an AI companion that acts similar to games like GranBlue Fantasy Relink, very simple, sometimes just runs in circles. BUT when the player does a special move, they follow suit. Just having an AI accompany me while my buddies are out sounds nice.
