CRUCIBLE ISN'T FUN, it's only combat, no exploration, no loot... why bother?

I imagine there are other players that don’t play crucible at all. It’s not really fun and here is why:
-it only gives loot on a successful run, thus I leave empty handed most of the times feeling I wasted my time, my food and my gold to repair.
-It feels like a constant grind because it is scaling with my level, while a rogue like doesn’t work like that. The first levels should feel like a cakewalk when you level up and you are supposed to find shortcuts to skip levels altogether when you are stronger.
-because of the difficulty level, it requires high focus from the player, making it exhausting. It doesnt slow down the pace or the difficulty at any point.
-while other areas of the game are nice because you explore, in the crucible there is nothing to explore. Levels just feel empty, there are no chests, no resources to farm, it’s only mindless combat, which is exhausting.

My opinion is it shouldn’t scale with player level, there should be chests, puzzles and more importantly it should be a reliable source of fallen embers regardless of how soon your run ends

Ironically, before the crucible update, crucible had loot (from each enemy) and chests. Good times.

The crucible sucks? yes
there is no loot? false.. it is the fastest way to farm gold and resources and weapons and it is the only valid way to have legendary items

I wouldn’t know because I never got past the level 5. And I promise I didn’t get any loot for all the time I invested. Only the chests near the npc on level 5 but it was mediocre useless loot that I ended up selling. For all the other runs that ended earlier I got nothing. Sometimes you are pushed or fall or an enemy surprises you and you die before you can do something about it and it was all in vain

sorry but what’s the point of complaining about crucible loot if you never even finished it???

It isn’t, and hasn’t been like that for a while. If you want good upgraded actually useful loot - do P4+10s, not Crucible.

Because that’s my point.. It is bad that the crucible only gives you loot on a full successful run. From a game design point of view you always have to reward your players for their time, because its a game is not a job. The reward should scale up with how far you get into the mini game but there has to be a sense of progression, otherwise the only people who will play it are the min maxer type of gamers, the masochist who enjoy having to give 100% to get the approval of the game.

moon studios should give us xp and good loot in the crucible as it is now i dont even bother its not even fun to do.

But it lacks fun because its just mindless combat. As a player you invest your time and perhaps food or gold, and it never becomes easy because it scales with your level so you are basically placing a bet and unless you really focus in playing well, you could lose it all.

Personally I hate that respec is locked behind it. I like that it is in the game for those that enjoy that kind of thing, but it should be an optional activity.

I don’t mind that it is a good way to farm Legendaries and other loot, because there are other ways to earn those in the game, but nothing should be gated solely behind the crucible.

not if you do the runs under 5 min.. the crucible gives you 7 chests with silver, runes, two legendaries, weapon bases, recipes, various resources and gems.
the plague much less even at maximum level

the crucible was born as end game content to try to give a challenge to the player not to make him progress

The Seneschal’s room chests definitely feel super mediocre rewards wise.

I say this as someone who breezes through full crucible runs by this point.

And I agree, for less geared/optimized players who can’t complete the Crucible yet, the lack of rewards before Echo Knight means the Crucible is a resource black hole.

They wasted all this food and vials to fail a run and walk away with very little.

The rewards should function more along a gradient.

If it is endgame content then respec shouldnt be hidden behind it dont you agree? Cause respec shouldn’t be endgame content

Thank you, you’ve put it more eloquently than me. The thing is like another player said, if it’s endgame content then it should be unlocked at the end of all the other quests. But having respec hidden behind it makes no sense cause I got bored of my playstyle at level 21 and want to swap but I cant unless I do at least two runs until level 5 of crucible. One run doesnt yield enough crystals to unlock it

I totally agree..I told you it sucks and I told you how it came about not that it’s good

I unlocked the crucible at level 4 just because I was looking around town. I wasted all my food and got nothing, even though I made it to level 3 (where I got bumped off a ledge..)

With that limited experience, I think it makes sense that the first few levels mostly drop food. That way you can keep running it without needing to go collect herbs, the only questions become:

  • can you get food faster than you use it? (This becomes the minimum skill check)
  • Can you win often enough to do the repairs? (User can solve this with a repair rune if needed)
  • Is it Fun?

What you don’t seem to understand, Is there are alot of things to do in this game and alot of places to do them. All of your complaints with crucible could be solved by…not doing crucible and just exploring the rest of the game. If you don’t like crucible thats fine, don’t do it. Why would they change crucible to be like every other place in the game? crucible is for those who just wanna kill shit…move on…kill shit…move…kill boss, rinse repeate. The crucible is for the sheer challenge / honeing your combat skills and chasing legendaries. If thats not appealing , you do one of the other activities in the game.

Doing crucible is one of many many choices of what to do when you log in. Having alot of choices , of what to do in the game, is nice.

@WickedMe I play hardcore and have to make new characters often. Crucible is by far the fastest and easyest way to level up a new character. put + exp gems in gear , take an exp potion. I’ve gone level 1 - 20 in an hour with good gear. The exp is fine in crucible imho.

@balrogslayer play the game more my friend. get used to the game. make a few dif characters. food is incredibly easy to come by.

Loot is the biggest problem which seems to be a persistent issue in ARP’s nowadays.
Honestly for the breach update I made 2 characters, beat the campaign and reached max level; did a bit of crusible and I was like ok im done, I know all the enchants by memory (kinda) and I know there’s no point in me getting loot. I could try to get the perfect pieces of gear that match the style I wanna rock (fashion) souls but I dunno It’s not that exciting to grind for certain pieces then gamble on the enchantments with embers.

I think the enchantments are not super interesting. Sure you can make “builds” that are very efficient at killing stuff but it takes you basically the whole campaign to get to that point and by then you’re like okay cool I want something new.

I personally feel like enchantments especially plagued should change the way you play or create fun interactions. But the game is set up in a way that you basically pick a weapon and most likely stick to it because of the attributes constraints and you simply find gear that helps you be a bit more efficient at fighting with it and that’s it. Your weapon is your build.

The game NEEDs more interactivity in terms of combat other than the souls hit and run style combat. Give us more options and so on and the loot is one big way to make that happen.

First thing first remove this i have not written that and second if i dont like they way the crucible is now i have the right to say so without any self proclaimed hardcore player telling me otherwise. And i say it again I realy dont like the way crucible is now Moon studios could at least give us good xp and good loot even befor the boss. Have a nice day everyone
