Crucible has too many floors until boss

All game mechanics is tell you: “okay, you kill those enemies, for some time there will be clear, so you can go deeper”.
In Crucible you hawe totaly different expirience, it’s not bad that you must overcome couple levels, but on bellow must be a save point, at least for 2-3 tryes for beat a boss.

I’m almost level 30 and I’ve come so close to beating the boss 3 or 4 times. 3 of those times I died, because of environmental glitches, and the last one I was basically one shot in the entryway. I’ve run the crucible over 20 times and it’s brutal having to go through all the levels every time. Once you reach the boss a certain amount of times, there should be an auto boss fight or significantly fewer mobb levels.

Definitely agree. I know it’s a skill issue, but still, I believe I should have the chance to ‘git gud’ by actually fighting against the boss again and again, learning it’s mechanics, instead of trudging through 7-8 levels of rather easily doable content just to have another try against the Echo Knight.

Yesterday was the first day I got to the boss, and of course I got eviscerated by him, but the long way there totally took away my spirit of trying again..

Yes, but then they shouldn’t have let us do the crucible this early. some of us just can’t beat certain bosses without being able to reliably and consistently practice a boss. sometimes when I finally reach him, I can’t even get him to phase 2. it stupid. if the crucible is available for us at a level 30 cap, we should be able to beat it.

brother, I feel your pain. that’s literally my struggle right now.

I agree, here’s a link to a similar post I made.

Posting for visibility, I’d prefer if there was less rooms, or if there was a checkpoint before the boss.

Plenty of people can beat it, you’re having a problem. This game is heavily influenced by the Souls games, which are made with the intent that not everyone will be able to beat the hardest content.

I made a similar thread about this issue.

Posting for visibility, would prefer less rooms or a boss checkpoint mechanism.

As far as it being “the current end game”, so what? Once you get to level 30, having to spend 15 minutes repeating 8 boring rooms for a single attempt at the boss isn’t fun. There’s no “engaging challenge” in that.

The current iteration of the crucible is probably a “placeholder endgame”, and presumably could be changed to make it more fun and enjoyable while they work on the rest of the game.

If someone wants to get more hours out of the game they’ll make new realms and new characters. Being forced to spend hours clearing trash rooms to have a go at the current hardest boss isn’t fun. Fighting the boss is the fun part, the rooms are just padding.

I don’t see how making me jump through extra hoops is supposed to be “the hardest content”. It’s just tedious.

They added the crucible just as appetizer for the endgame fetishists.
I guess it will be a disconnected challenge from the main progression. The fact that its that early is the lack of main content.

I don´t agree. The crucible is mean to be as a dungeon where you have to pass the levels until you get to the final boss.

Is the way is mean to be and its good. It´s endgame content.

Maybe in future they can add a boss rush or something like that but the crucible is good.

Today I can make the entire crucible (boss included) in no more than 8 minutes.
This is so much time for you? Then you have to improve your gear and maybe know better the enemies.

The penalty is only that you have to restart the crucible with a new ember… you take the xp and the items although you die… I don´t see punishment in that. Even you can grind level with the system as is done nowadays.

Suggestion:

Make the Crucible 9 rooms in total. Room 3 and 6 mini bosses, room 9 Echo Knight.
For each mini boss you defeat you get a revive chance. You die before defeating the first mini boss you are done, start over. But if you reach the boss without any death you have 2 revive chances so you can go at him 2 more times.

The only fun part about crucible is the boss, and he’s the part of it players spend the least time on because they can only try him once.

As it stands, actually learning his patterns and timings isn’t really an option over just… cheesing him with excessive life on hit and other nonsense.

Add a checkpoint so players can actually have some fun, yeah?

As a player who hasn’t beaten echo knight yet (no rune spamming) , I agree that it’s hard to really learn the fight due to running all the stages. But I would say a permanent whistle is maybe too much. What you guys think on alimited whistle, so you have for example 3 tries and after that you get kicked out. So it’s not ultra punishing, persons like myself can learn and understand the fight better and have 2 more tries before beeing thrown out of the arena.

I really, really hope that doesn’t happen to the crucible. I’m so tired of every game needing to be a roguelike, and I was very excited to see that No Rest for the Wicked wasn’t going to be one. Just let me make my own builds, and don’t make my character’s power be temporary.

I’ve beaten the boss on five characters, it’s not about skill, it’s about random targeting loss. This was more about that then the design of the crucible. I don’t like that I must go through boring floors on my mage one shotting stuff, just to get to the enjoyable boss fight (as long as the targeting system doesn’t randomly lose the boss). After a while, The floors feel more like a mandated grind rather than an enjoyable experience.

I enjoy it for a bit on each new character, then it gets stale, yet the boss fight is always a good time.

More bosses, less grind rooms. It would be cool if we could fight more of the story bosses in the current endgame, just scaled up, hard versions of them, as the current bounty bosses are super easy and they are only once per week.

The boss fights honestly are the only thing that keeps the current system alive, giving us the ability to go out and fight hard versions of the bosses would be amazing.

As of right now, the only thing keeping me entertained is making new characters for new builds and play styles. Once I hit close to cap and kill the boss, the crucible gets incredibly easy. And the open world mobs at cap are child’s play.

Scale up the open world for Max lvl, and add some more challenging boss fights, even if it is reiterated versions of the old bosses, out there for Max level and the open world would be much more risky and fun for capped characters.

My max lvl characters are so powerful, its not fun to play any of the content on them, so they just sit there.

I know it’s early access, just my thoughts on things they could do to make the current content last longer on a character than just hitting 30 and then sitting there as a grinnich shop manager.

It would only be in the crucible though? They want it to be an endgame minigame to test player skill.

And I would much rather have the existing version of the crucible, where I can take my own build in and look to find meaningful and permanent upgrades.

We’ll have to wait and see what their vision is. I’d like the roguelike version better. I’m sure we’ll have open world stuff to test our build with.

Of could be they’ll have a mix of both.

Totally agree especilly because there are times (many) that i’ve died for some stupid shxt.:

  • falling down a pit because the roll didn’t go as planned
  • getting stuck in some way to enemies and cant get away even rolling
  • ecc…
and these are not deaths that i did because i cant handle the dungeons to the echo night, most are deaths that happen because in trying to rush down you do stupid mistakes.
