Climbing vines can a fine tune, but the most important problem is that fast climbing down and fast climbing up. when you are already climbing the vine and u want to climb faster, u press the sprint button to do it. but that just makes thr first action of ur character to drop you down, and many times i died that way.
Instead of the character to climb down when press the button, maybe make the input “if u release the sprint button in few milli seconds the character dops down”
did you remap your controls? because if u don’t u climb fast with the sprint button (x on PS controller), yes, but u drop down with another (circle or moving left stick). maybe u got some remapping conflict going on there.
thank you but i already know about that. its not about that you can change the button mapping(which i good but then why give the option for 2 actions that can be set by one button on a default and its not the best option) its about the way it is done. i think its a small quality life change that will help people to play the game much more smoothly.
The game is default key mapping and its function also also have some small level of enjoyment for the players.
I have alternative option, that is just like in controller option it has character, combat, shortcuts section. give a climbing option where you can change the option of climbing faster and dropping different action key option
I agree, the way it’s implemented has killed me a few times too. If you approach a vine already running and you keep holding the button then you can climb fast by jumping. But if you start climbing slowly and you push dash, you would assume it would make you jump, but instead drops you like dead weight.

its so weird, maybe this is a remapping issue? i tested it yesterday and it was all fine for me. climb slo, then use x (PS button layout) to sprint/jump/climb fast. in any direction. even tried to let go by stopping and press sprint again, did not work. only way my character jumped/fell of the vines was when i pressed circle, or was out of stamina from too much jumping and testing lol

I did more testing on my end and I think I know what may have caused it. Yes, I do have my buttons remapped. One change, with Xbox controls, is to have B as the run/dodge button instead of A. But it seems the game has a hard coded button prompt that B is “cancel” so it conflicts with the run/dodge remapping and chooses to “cancel” the vine climb and drops the player. When I change it back to A, it works like it should. I changed it to B because in many other games B is for dodging and my muscle memory was already trained for it. I think they should rethink how this hard coded B cancel works because it will keep causing problems in the future.

oh, ok that make sense. but then again it need to be fixed… i just tried and same for me too
yeah thats what i assumed. similar thing happened to someone on kb+m with the eat food button if i remember correctly. remapping sadly still has some issues
