you dont understand what im talking about
i dont care what i need
when the developers talk about freedom of expression but then exactly tell you which stats you need to use a specific item there isnt much left to do because you spent all your points just to be able to hold that item
so if all of that build freedom comes from affixes, these weapon attributes are exactly useful for nothing. we can just remove them and the game stays the same.
I agree, at this point the icebreaker just has magical rune attacks, but Iām sure they are going to add more magical on hit properties and maybe some ice glow like they do with the falling sky staff.
I think though what they wanted was to make it so you can customize the weapons a little, so on the icebreaker i put cold enchant on it, and there you go, magical icebreaker, with a magical ice whirlwind rune. Also I took the ice ram spell from another weapon and put it on there.
They are sure to add tons more effects later on as well.
In the stats giving you bonuses, it would definitely have to be small amounts, but a small bonus feels to me satisfying, Rather than nothing other than weapon scaling. Theyd have to balance it for sure, and the game doesnāt need it at all, but it would be cool if they did it right.
Whats wrong about becoming that āfantasyā throughout the game/leveling because thats the point of leveling and finding/filtering items.
You dont start as a mage ⦠you become a mage. Reaching the first boss is not your whole story Its just the prologue ⦠at sacrament the journey of your fantasy begins.
I dislike blueprints because its feels like fast forwarding to my fantasy and later i dont fixes the problem that i have to handle drops that are not matching the initial idea of my character
I disagree, the requirements are there to have some sense of class identity, without it it would just be a completely classless system, there is plenty of build freedom within the game with the current system as it is, we donāt need more.
There are multiple weapons to choose from per stat choice as well, hybrid or pure stat builds, and thereās only gonna be more, so itās not like your locked into one weapon.
Having complete freedom in an already soft classed system would be chaos to balance as well as make some stupidly op broken as fuck builds possible, which would break the game and also immersion of any sort of character and class identity.
This current system actually encourages new character creation, which is fantastic for longevity and enjoyment of different aspects of the game.
Imagine wow only having 1 class that you could build any way you want. Thatād be fuckin awful. Thatās why it only happens in private servers.
yea but there is no point in leveling up those attributes because they donāt do anything but letting you hold those weapons. you could aswell just choose a āclassā like ranger, trickster, assasine, holy knight, warrior, sorcerer, cleric, etc. if you are simply locked into those weapons, you can make it more simple and let people press one button to be locked into those weapons
Thom replied to someone on Twitter/X that theyāre going to make the stats do something other than determine what weapons you can use, but he didnāt state what.
looking forward to it
i think this is they way they want you to get familiar with the game mechanics first and start investing stats after when you find a weapon you decide to choose (there is also hp, focus and equiploads that works with any build but not ruin your character if invested for those stats), it gives more freedom for people before they decide what to do instead of just giving a base build to start.
they should block baths for you so you to end up with the blacksmith sooner so you dont spend too mutch time in the game before you find a good weapon.
The weapons stats scale your damage not just let you use it. So you can build into more damage by going full str, dex, etc, r just get the base requirement and go full tank with HP and plate armor (equip load).
This gives you the ability to build str/dex tanks with halberds. Or go full berserker with mesh or leather and put all into your main stats.
The variety is already there, you just have to build it.
Fillmore does have a bunch of different starter weapon options when you meet him but Iād love to see one of each type weapon like a 2H Axe, 2H Mace, 2H Hammer, rapier, and definitely a spear.
