I’ve been playing No Rest for the Wicked recently. Combat is intense since I play on the hardest difficulty, but one thing really annoyed me.
During combat, I pressed heal and 70% of the time it doesn’t happen. At first, I thought it was the hunger meter thing, but no it wasn’t. The buttons are just too sensitive. Here’s how it works, you press, you can use your item. Long press and you can switch them. At least on a controller. I don’t know about Mouse + Keyboard.
The problem is that the difference between them is too small. Most of the time I lift my finger from the button just on the border between long press and normal pressing. As a result, I don’t heal.
So here is my suggestion. Allow the press to be considered a press for a tiny bit longer.
The hold-press timer is actually pretty standard. I don’t have the issues you are referring to on Controller.
go into your steam controller settings and configure your DPad and set it to ‘4 way (no overlap)’
it fixed my sensitivity issues.. you can also change sensitivity for each button on the DPad.
My problem was similar but instead i switched weapon instead of healing xD
I can try that, but… how does overlapping fix that? On a theoretical level.
sorry i was a bit late on editting -you can also change sensitivity for each button on the DPad and much more.
so yes you should be able to change when it counts as a long press.
my DPad default settings was ‘8 way (overlap)’
when i lift my finger on lets say between button Right and UP on the DPad i for some weird reason didnt change weapon and i got the long press on Food even tho it was a short press.. Theoretically i should have used Food and 50% of the times i did by mistake..
ive only had this problem on 1 of my controllers and its the controller that feels best to use and even better now.
That’s the first time I had to resort to this, which makes me think that this suggestion is a pretty good idea. Your solution is good too as a temporary thing. You know, sane defaults and stuff.
For now, I’ll do what you said… if I can figure it out.
