there’s multiple exploits u can use with the game files.
DUPLICATE-ITEMS WITH FILES:
You can duplicate unlimited amount of items, just by doing the following:
put the item to duplicate in a chest
wait 2 minutes until ur “REALM-FILE” is getting saved while in the game
copy the REALM-FILE in the DataStore to a different Folder
take out the item to duplicate to your inventory
quit the game
paste in the old REALM-FILE & start the game
log in the game and the item is back in the chest
TRYING UNLIMITED ENCHANTS FOR “BEST IN SLOT”
have the item you want to enchant in your inventory
1.1 go to the datastore, ZIP all the files into a .zip
go to the enchanter and enchant the item u like to enchant
once u got a bad enchant alt+f4 the game
unzip all the files u ZIPPED
start the game
the item which used to be enchanted is now unenchanted
CHANGING FINLEYS LOADOUT & LET HIM SPAWN WHENEVER YOU WANT
Change the Date on your computer to a saturday 1 YEAR ahead between 8-12am
log in the game & make sure u get a Safe
go in to the main menu
right click on realm
load the last save
now FINLEY will have a different loadout to buy from
Offline gamefiles wouldnt be able to be have control of, but for multiplayer you should be able to create a character on a server so people cant abuse the duping etc.
It is precisely this reason that in any competitive game, especially in arpg, does not allow the use of an offline character in an online game.
Any ARPG that has offline and online requires that a new character be created for online, where data on it will be stored on servers.
Now all the files are on your PC and you can do whatever you want with them. Alas, this is the “trick” of all offline games.
Not any, at least ds series don’t require new character creation for online and item duping glitch is still a thing in ds 1. Even Elden Ring allows you to use item duplication through save backup with friend’s help (as intermediate storage).
There are 2 problems, why duping is a thing atm:
no way to respec
no way to reenchant / reinfuse
If these issues are sorted out, there will be much less item duping with barely any impact on incoming multiplayer.
I don’t see why you should care about people cheating in their offline, single-player game. What they do with their game isn’t really any concern of yours, imo.
The idea that devs should try to monitor someone’s offline activity and punish them for not playing a video game “correctly” seems really, really wrong. If your only concern is that a person with a hacked character will ruin someone else’s online experience then that’s totally fair but your post doesn’t make it seem that way.
The point is, you invest a lot of your time to level and gear up, while others are doing it illegally. I am not going to enjoy the game the same knowing I have to grind my ass off wile you and others do it the easy way.
In the end it is just a moral point of view but unfair as well. Therefore, I do hope you and the others get flagged as cheaters to get treated differently upon release.
If you don’t enjoy the process of acquiring gear and leveling up fairly then don’t play the game? You’re not supposed to be investing time to level and gear up in a single player game brother, you’re supposed to be investing time in your own entertainment. If the leveling and gearing isn’t entertaining to you then I don’t think you’re playing the right game. Or, honestly, if you don’t want to level and gear up again then I think you should cheat to bypass the part of the game that isn’t enjoyable to you.
Also I don’t cheat, I just don’t care when other people do because it doesn’t impact my experience in any way when no interaction between my “fair” character and their “unfair” character is possible. Again, if there were some way for your cheated character to play with/against my fair one (or vice versa, obviously), I feel completely differently.
I think it’s weird you’re trying to make how people play their single-player video games a moral issue.
I didn’t quite enjoy it fully because it is time consuming and we don’t have re-spec available at the moment, however, I fully regret coming across the fast leveling and item dupe in Youtube as it certainly impacted negatively my motivation for the game.
The situation becomes moral because while I am levelling my character legally and face the low loot drop rate for mats, xp potions etc, there is people just bypassing this by cheating, how am I going to be indifferent to this? The moral issue even tempts me to cheat, but I won’t.
As I said, I hope the cheaters get punished in the future releases, for now, I am going to move on.
@endoplasma
Mate it’s offline, you can’t tell me what to do or that you are not ok with what I do in my own house.
When co-op is released I’m sure this will be an issue if the devs don’t do anything about it. But most probably save file for co-op will be online only and you won’t be able to edit them.
Flagged and punished for what, for back upping my offline save file? Good luck with that.
Tell me who punished Diablo 2 offline hard core character backup?
You can’t watch a video or read about someone having fun and than complain why you are not having fun.
As a software developer myself I’m 100% sure the devs are fully aware of this and they could fix it in many different ways, but most probably the current structure of the save file will be needed later in online co-op so why do double work and fix something that is not broken when you switch to online save file.
For me, I have lost the passion to play the game further, once I started to use backup files to duplicate silver and iron, and exp potions.
Things are easier to get, but constant reloading the game makes me feel this game is boring.
I was having fun with this game even when it takes a lot of time to grow. However, once I learned the duplication exploit, I don’t want going back, and there is no fun at all.
