Auto-Collect harvested materials

When harvesting materials from collection points (trees, ore deposits, digging) make it so the materials are auto-collected when finished, I mean, we are harvesting to get them in the first place. Just to streamline the process and be on our way faster to get killed somewhere.

Thanks!

I would go even one step further (got this from Action RPG’s channel) and say that, pressing the button once instead of multiple times (or holding it down) to perform the action of chopping/mining/digging would be welcomed. Make movement cancel the action (just in case you’re attacked mid-gather).

I don’t mind clicking buttons, but my middle-aged man hands are a bit over having to mash buttons for such a task. Let’s just, push to start, auto-collect after it drops (if you have space - that’s ANOTHER issue), and move to cancel. Efficient, and player friendly!

I feel like having to pick up the items I got from any resource I am gathering is just one less click that is necessary. It already takes a long time and multiple clicks to mine/chop/dig etc. (which really why, one click is fine). But then to have to click once again to pick up what I want or wouldn’t be trying to gather it just makes no sense. It should just go into my bag. Also the extra animation of picking up loot is unnecessary and I’ve never understood the need for it. We loot a lot, and the extra stop, bend, pickup, reset is just tiring after awhile. I know the design is to be more immersive but IMO it’s not creating anything other than a delay that feels pointless. Loving the game so far.

Allow for auto-pickup for resources the players will essentially always want to pick up such as wood, ores, crafting materials, currency etc. For those concerned about it being immersion breaking then allow for the option to toggle this feature in settings.

Nice feature, also it would be handy to make manually picking angle wider, sometimes I’m trying to approach blue loots multiple times because pickup button Y not showing up…

When you dig or chop or mine, could you get the ressources directly in the inventory ?
It feels like too much after having chopped down a tree or mined or digged to have to press Y again to gather the ressources, rather than having them directly in inventory. Just like when you fish, you get the fish directly in inventory, and don’t have to pick it up.

jup, definitively agree.

yes, especially when you char decides to sidle and stick to a wall 4 times in a row before the item is picked up

Agreed. Auto-loot Option until we’re full then show us the little icon of what it is so we can interact for a transfer.

Also let us lock items in inventory like foods I don’t want to transfer or extra weapons or items I want to keep on hand during quick transfers.

Hmm..

Would also add to immersion, by giving us material instead of one tiny bit of wood dropping of an entire tree.

Someone mentioned this on their Twitter about Big Numbers for damage vs what we have now and they said they don’t care much for the “Big Number” idea. I’m fine with the single drops until we get auto-loot which would turn multiple drops into 1 drop anyway. I don’t want to pick up 25 small pieces of wood that’s all I know. Or 36 pieces of ore lol.

In the end it’s all just scaling. 1 Wood is the same as 10 if both requirements are scaled the same. 1 wood drop for 1 craft-able weapon vs 10 wood drops for a weapon needing 10 pieces of wood. It’s just easier to stick with points of 1.

Yes i agree completely. :+1:

If i wasn’t clear, i didn’t mean to give us more material, but in our minds that 1 material that we get could mean more.

For now we see just that tiny bit of wood dropping - Oh yeah guess our character was simply too lazy to pick up more. :upside_down_face:

I understand auto pickup will not be handy (even very annoying) sometimes.

However, killing a horse shoe crab and then having to click on the drop (and sometimes wait for the input delay) seems like unnecessary friction when you already have a non-max stack of horse shoe crab claws in your inventory: of course you want to +1 your stack.

In those cases, can you just auto-vacuum the stuff from the floor into our inventory?

Would be amazing QoL.

Thanks for the consideration

Think for gathering purposes you just auto loot the item once the tree, mining node and holes animation finish. I’ve had a lot of times actually where some of the trees or mineral veins are on the edges of mountains/cliffs or by the water and they become unlootable because they “fell out of bounce” and landed somewhere you can’t loot it.

Possibly aswell as you get the higher tier tools(Silver being the highest atm during the EA) if you gather older resources(Copper, Pine, etc) you get more resources.

I like the little timing minigame where you have to hit a rock or a tree at just the right moment, but it should reward more loot instead of mainly shortening the harvesting time. (Although I think hitting “perfect” already gives slightly more materials.)

Harvested resources deffinetly should be transferred directly to the inventory instead of dropping on the ground, sometimes they fall off cliffs or get hidden in debris. We’re already clicking enough buttons, so spare us the extra looting. It’s not like we’re chopping trees and mining rocks just to leave the materials behind, so please make it work like fishing and send everything straight to the inventory.

It’s not a massive issue, but it would be nice if wood and ore was not dropped on the ground and instead placed directly into my inventory like fishing

Some trees and ores are placed next to slopes and ledges, so they tumble out of reach before they can be picked up. It’s also hard to see where the pickup has landed when the smashed pieces of the ore mesh look almost identical to the items themselves. I’ve probably missed a few ores that dropped in two separate stacks (why?) because I just couldn’t see the other one

I agree, It happens very often, it’s very annoying and it’s a waste of time.

Yes, please.

In awkward positions like on a ledge they fall off sometimes too…

+1 fishing is already like this

Please dev, please implement autopick up for harvesting mat like woods and rocks. We already have that, like fishing, when after the animation the fish go directly into inventory. A small but big QOL improvment.
