Please, make the material gathering more snappy, seriously, this game is being advertised as an action RPG/soulslike game, even if we got some survival mechanics I can ensure nobody wants to waste their time spamming E to chop down wood and mine stuff, and having to press an extra time to collect from the ground. It really breaks the flow of the game. Consider making the animation faster and reducing the times you need to hit the nodes, low-level nodes could be mined/cut in one clean hit, so we can actually kill monsters.
If building will be a core part of your game, please, make it satisfying; otherwise, it feels like an unnecessary chore.
I don’t mind the time to cut, since it’s affected by tool quality. However, to prevent tiring the hand/worsening carpal tunnel, just one input should be put in and your character should continue gathering without additional inputs unless you press the cancel or dodge keys. I agree as well that the item from gathering should go straight to the inventory, but keep the cute blue wisp to signify you are keeping an item.
So gathering automatically continues until completed in one button input, and then when you finish you get the visual feedback of the cute blue wisp flying to your character and the game notifying you of what material and quantity you gathered.
I would like the animation when picking up resources off the ground to be removed. Unnecessary pause and when there’s so much to pick up it is an unnecessary rub when trying to do things.
I agree with you, in my opinion it would be worth making a new, much faster animation for the standard loot and the current slow animation could still be used for key items.
When gathering resources, it would feel better if items dropped in stacks.
It makes a noticeable difference whether you have to crouch once or multiple times.
