Archery at a barrel

If you get too close to a barrel, your bowshot won’t hit it. I tried about five different bows, and the results were the same. Even with small rats, this isn’t a problem. And yes, we’re talking about bows without a quiver.

@Silas-Inservio-Pax Targeting objects like barrels stopped working, except in the Crucible. Is this a bug or a feature? There’s no information about this in the patch notes.

They did this because often in combat the target lock would go to objects instead of enemies. I’m unsure if they could implement a logic where when in combat, target lock only cycles through enemies, but otherwise bows could target objects outside combat. Probably could, but it just hasn’t been finalized and implemented yet.

This is how auto-targeting works in Crucible. Targeting is disabled outside of Crucible. This was noticed when playing with a gamepad.

Very late, but I’m not sure I understand. If i’m with Patience next to crates and barrels, and I’m hitting those on your screenshot location all just fine.

I’ve tried here as well:

And same result, if I was up and close to every breakable object there, I destroyed it by a simple attack.

Can you still reproduce this issue for you?

Silas

Of course, here’s the video.

hm alright, I could reproduce with Siren’s Call and Woodland Protector already, though not a 100%.

Still, I think this is a non-issue, just going to leave this topic open until a sweep.

With the latest patches, the issue occurs randomly, from session to session. In one location everything can be destroyed, but as soon as you move to another location, the same problem appears again (I’m still referring to the bow and nearby objects).

I have a vague suspicion that the issue might be related to auto target. In some cases, auto target seems to target enemies exclusively and only switches to objects after they are killed. In other cases, when switching targets, the aim jumps from enemies to objects. There were moments when trying to switch targets did nothing at all.

The only recent thing I managed to capture is shots missing the object - here’s the video.
