Answering some Frequently Asked Questions!

Hey folks,

Casca sent us some questions from the community he collected, so I thought I’d take a few minutes to answer all of them :slight_smile:

Multiplayer and Console Release

  • Multiplayer when? Will be there a coop finally?
    • We’re working incredibly hard on finishing up Co-Op already. We don’g have a specific date yet, but Co-Op will be the next update right after The Breach.
  • Is co-op just co-op or does that include pvp?
    • While we’ve been playing PvP internally for quite some time now, there’s a good chance we’ll want to let PvP cook a little longer and release it as a separate update!
  • Should we assume another 9 months down the road for coop?
    • Hell no :smiley:
  • Is multiplayer not coming out this next update?
    • It will not yet be part of The Breach Update, but the Update right after.
  • Co-op still 4 players or 3 players? Is it already available?
    • Co-Op will be limited to 4 players per realm in total, which means that you and 3 fans can play. Since Multiplayer works quite different in Wicked than it does in most other ARPG’s, you’ll want to share a realm with people that you consistently play with.
  • Wasn’t it possible to release The Breach and multiplayer at the same time?
    • Quality always comes first at Moon. If we could’ve released Co-Op and Breach together, we would have. But we want each feature to shine and be fully featured before we release it.
  • Will PvP still be a upcoming thing?
    • Hells yeah!
  • Will Moon have separate servers? Or use Steam ones? Will you have servers on different regions? You can’t keep those servers forever right?
    • We’re working with a partner on this in order to provide servers globally.
  • When the game comes out on consoles will it have crossplay?
    • Yep, Cross-Play and Cross-Save.
  • What about a potential console release?
    • We’re basically following the same formula Larian did with Baldur’s Gate 3. We want to take the time in Early Access to really perfect Wicked so that we can then release Wicked on all major platforms at 1.0 at the level of quality that people expect from Moon Studios.

Updates, wipes and progress

  • Should we expect a forced restart for each major update? Will there be more wipes after The Breach?
    • No, don’t worry. We’ll only wipe when we deem it absolutely necessary and we’ll advance that way in advance.
  • Characters will be wiped? Will I need to do a new character? What about realms, are those wiped too?
    • Yes, you will have to create a new character and a new realm in order to play The Breach. Old Characters and Realms won’t get deleted, they will still be available in a Legacy Build.
  • If you need to start a new save, what will happen to the Twitch drops?
    • Everyone will get these now.
  • So, there are only two major updates (Breach and MP) left until Wicked leaves Early Access?
    • No, there will be more :slight_smile:
  • Will we have the full campaign at The Breach update?
    • No, while we massively expanded the campaign, it’s not the full content yet that we have planned for 1.0.
  • What will happen with the Cerim armor?
    • Everyone who bought Wicked during Early Access will have access to the Cerim Gear.

Content and Playability

  • Will enemies spawn more often in the Open World?
    • We’ve drastically improved our Alive System - you’ll now see MANY more enemies and enemy factions spawn with all new states having been created for every single area.
  • Aren’t you worried that areas will lose their “identity” if any enemy can appear in them?
    • No, we have a lot of things planned in that regard. And for The Breach, variety means more fun :slight_smile:
  • Can we get pets? Maybe at our house?
    • Right now this is a wishlist item that we might or might not get to.
  • Does farming come before or after the final act?
    • Farming will be part of the Sacrament Update. Players will simply be able to buy farmhouses with farmland instead of just the houses you already know.
  • Will we be able to replace runes or gems in this update? Or ever?
    • This feature is currently not supported for The Breach… but we might still get to it!
  • Are runes on shield coming with Breach or not?
    • Nope, Shield Runes will be part of a larger Combat Update later down the road.
  • Will we get “new uniques” with the Breach update?
    • Yes.
  • Will we have a job system in the future? Like Final Fantasy Tactics jobs/abilities system?
    • Yes and it’s gonna be great :smiley:
  • If there’s more than one enemy, will the food limit stack or will I still have the 5 food limit?
    • The Hunger Limit does not stack based on the number of enemies.
  • Any news on an official Mac port?
    • We’ll have more news on that in the future. But feel free to let @Gennadiy know that you really want this! :wink:
  • Are there any plans to introduce modding support?
    • No plans to add mod support for the time being.

Story and World Map

  • What’s the size / gametime / playtime of Breach compared to Act 1?
    • It’s hard to put a concrete timestamp on this since all players play differently, but generally we doubled the content, so you should be able to spend at least twice the amount of time that you did before :slight_smile:
  • How much more story is there in this update?
    • Much.
  • Will Caylen be in the Breach update? Which areas will be added in The Breach update?
    • Caylen will not be part of The Breach Update. The main new zones we’re introducing are the Lowland Meadows and Marin Woods. Keep in mind that we also added new zones here and there as well :slight_smile:

Mechanics and Balancing

  • Did you address attribute requirements? Update for attribute points?
    • We’ve tweaked a great many things about our stats - Please let us know how you feel about this system after you’ve experienced The Breach!
  • What about lvl (level) limit? Will it be increased with The Breach?
    • We’re still limiting players to level 30, but we’ve been working on our experience curve and our stats in general, so your experience might be quite different than it was on the current LIVE build.
  • Is exalting still the same?
    • Exalting has been changed. But we don’t want to spoil everything just yet.
  • Did parry get improved?
    • We’ve adjusted the timings of Parry.
  • Has falling off ledges been reworked?
    • After discussing this multiple times in our Community Discord Server, we’ve been advised not to introduce any form of ‘ledge protection’. So please don’t use any Dash ability next to a cliff.
  • Is improved enemy AI planned for The Breach?
    • Yes, all enemies already got a polish pass, learned some new moves and s on.
  • Crucible will be the same as it is now?
    • We’ve only adjusted things slightly for the Crucible. There is no added content, but you’ll once again be able to gain experience in the Crucible. You’ll also see item drops returning.
  • Pestilence will keep repeating after defeating the boss? Or is it a one-time thing?
    • Once the Pestilence spreads throughout Isola Sacra, all areas can become infected. You cleanse areas by defeating the Plagued Boss within the area. After that though, the area could become infected again.
  • Will you remove daily and timed missions?
    • No, but we plan on heavily improving these in the future.
  • Will Finley still only there on Saturday mornings?
    • We have not yet made any changes to Finley.

Sound and Music

  • Is Gareth Coker coming back or is it just one song?
    • Gareth is the official composer for No Rest for the Wicked now. He’s working hard on providing a complete score.
  • Is Gareth Coker redoing the entire score for Wicked or is he just contributing?
    • Gareth is providing all-new music for No Rest for the Wicked.
  • Is there a way of getting the OST at the end of the trailer? It’s so good.
    • We’ll announce more regarding that in the future!

UI related

  • Will we get PS button prompts?
    • Yes.
  • Our PFP is animated now in the game?
    • Your Avatar in the top-left of your screen is now indeed a full 3d model instead of a 2d graphic.

Performance and Technical Questions

  • Will we have new PC requirements?
    • No, but you should see very nice performance gains in The Breach Update.
  • Will Wicked have FSR4?
    • Not for The Breach.
  • How will these performance improvements impact Steam Deck?
    • We’ve focused a lot on optimizing Wicked on Steam Deck - Please let us know more about your experience after you’ve played The Breach!
  • What GPU was used during the performance graphs segment in Wicked Inside?
    • Our testers played on numerous machines, hard to say. We’re trying to ensure that Wicked performs well even on modest hardware.

Business Model and Marketing

  • Will there be any paid DLCs or expansions? Still no MTX crap is the plan?
    • Everyone who buys Early Access will be able to play ALL updates including having access to the full 1.0 Release of No Rest for the Wicked. After we reached 1.0, we intend to release bigger expansions to continue our journey. And indeed, we don’t plan on adding any ‘MTX crap’ :smiley:
  • We don’t have to pay for anything anymore, right?
    • Correct!

Others

  • Will you do another Wicked Inside for MP update, Sacrament update, combat update, etc.?
    • Yes, we will produce more Wicked Insides for all the major updates within Early Access - and probably beyond :slight_smile:

Yo awesome stuff ,cant freakin wait to try out the new weapons ,the Alive System im a big fan of to ,Co Op/PVP 4sho will be a treat when it comes

Thank you very much for answering questions. Can you please clerify some moments about recent problem,that took place. I’m talking about bag, when game freezes after logo and shut down with no visible mistakes. I really want to enjoy your game, but this bug makes it impossible. I sent logs to your colleagues , but receive no answer.

Just curious! Is PvP only going to be against those players within the same world/server or is there any plans for an invasion system of sorts? And if so will it be an option to opt out from invasions?

Please no invasions,if people want to kill eachother and behave like idiots and fuck up others playthroughs im out,there should be servers only for pvp not forced invasions. atleast i think so

Yeah, I agree tbh. Invasion systems never fail to annoy me and break the flow of my gameplay, so if they are added I’d prefer it be possible to opt out of them. Perhaps it could be a question when a save is started and then a toggle in the settings?

i do love and hate invasions at the same time. hate it when i just want to casually explore, but love the added tension it brings. maybe this could be an option/setting when creating a singleplayer realm “invasion on off”.

talking about singleplayer here, as realm are 4 players max as i understood. so people could then choose to 1v1 pvp when they set up realms for this purpose. or even 2v2 maybe? (as it would then be still 4 players max with 2 invaders)

Everything sounds good to me! Besides one thing, I still think there should be at least minimal ‘ledge protection’ (Especially for Crucible). Maybe not for Dash, but for attack animations.

Thank you very much, Thomas and Moon Studio, for the clarifications. Please also thank Gareth Cooker for me. I’ve been a fan of his work since Ori. I’m patiently awaiting news about the NRFTW OST. I’d love to have it. So far, I think it’s incredible. And even my girlfriend likes it just because of how passionately I enjoy it.
I hope that from now on you can work more focused on the game, without being interrupted or stressed by external means. Greetings, and my personal thanks to the studio for all your cult works.

No MTX or DLC purchase sounds bad. It means that soon you will have no money and the project will be closed.
I would like to buy DLC once a year or MTX. Why do I need a house if I can’t buy anything there )))

I don’t think that’s how it works.
Plenty of developers have made successful games without DLC or MTX.
If you don’t overballoon your budgets MTX shouldn’t be necessary, imo.

And I don’t quite agree with you, I just want to express my opinion, and it is as follows: why not support the developers in a project that I like by buying DLC or MTX items, armor or decorations in the house that will not affect the leveling, but thereby express my respect and support. (translator) :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, there are many released games. But how many of them were supported further with at least a couple of DLCs?
Let’s say if the game is being developed seriously and manually, it requires a lot of resources. Developing a game for several years that you can play for a couple of months and in a year no one will buy it - that’s not a plan.

Any work should be paid for. MTX is an opportunity to develop the project further and release further content in the form of add-ons, and not release it and close it in favor of developing another project.

The ability to create worlds in this game allows you to make some interesting events. Now offline games often have events and this is very cool.
