I figured it out! ill go back and change my settings to full screen window.
Damn thats wide. Can really see the curvature of the world that they’re using here.
No you are definitely not. I am using RTX 3050, i7 11800H, 16GB ram and i can hardly pass 50 fps on performance settings with %50 res witch is the lowest you can do.
I’ve been playing on my SteamDeck (Original LCD model, un-modded). Over the course of the 5-6 patches it’s gotten a little better, but still a ways to go. I’m only 5ish hours in but here’s my experience:
- In sacrament it runs surprisingly well: 35-45FPS and is more than playable.
- Outside of Sacrament and certainly when multiple enemies are on the screen it drops considerably: 20-25FPS sometime worse, This really makes it harder to tolerate since it’s lagging right when it matters the most.
- There’s still quite a bit of stutters and pauses as resources stream in. Again also at very inopportune times.
- As mentioned a few times in this thread: the longer I play the worse it seems to get.
Since it’s early release I don’t expect it to be fully optimized, but it is heading in the right direction. I really hope they can optimize the engine and perhaps offer more settings for lower end hardware to hit a stable 60FPS. This game would be awesome on the Deck.
(Note: whomever ported Ori to the Switch got that running at a rock solid 60FPS so I’m pretty confident this will get there)
Oh dude don’t worry, you make me feel better. I’ve got an i9 with an RTX 4060 laptop GPU, yet at 2880x1800 resolution I have to have it set to “Performance” and 60% rendering percentage and STILL in many areas or even the same areas after playing the game for a while it will CHUG at sub 40fps stuttering.
It’s not in a good state right now.
I’m using a 3080 Nvidia and things are running pretty smooth. Still have those occasional lag spikes when traveling from Sacrament to the Nameless Quarry area but otherwise mostly smooth with minor lag moments.
That entire “getting worse the longer you play” thing is exactly what is happening to me, it sucks. It’s so sporadic but overall is much worse with time. It’s unfortunate because my laptop is new and I haven’t played many games to compare to, so sometimes I feel like I’m getting gaslit into thinking that it’s my computer that is the problem lol. If it’s a memory leak thing I have 32gbs, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to know how that works exactly or if it would be video memory that is involved.
I should also say though, the patches have made huge strides and it now it’s been well enough playable ~60+ fps a lot of time, though there’s definitely big chugging from things like elemental attacks on weapons… oof do my icy double daggers tank fps bad. And the quarry is rough no matter what.
yeah the patches have helped, but it is worrying that after 6 hotfixes each one containing a memory leak fix, people are still having their game slow down the more they play. still, thanks; its reassuring to hear that also higher end rigs are struggling.
honestly i dont ask for more than 60fps stable with performance mode, that’d be paradise considering my setup.
After hotfix 6 its been silence. Hopefully the developers are taking a much needed rest… so they can deliver a massive and transformative patch/hotfix 7!
I did some more science-ing last night - the performance for sure degrades linearly as I play (I think it’s as I die and/or kill enemies). I was standing in the sewer dungeon by the spawn point, nothing on screen, getting ~25FPS. I exited, restarted and in the exact same spot I was getting ~42FPS. Clearly there’s some things not getting unallocated/unspawned. Anecdotally I can sometimes see the models of enemies I kill hanging around on the map. Not interactable, just standing in a spot. Also drops tend to add up as I walk explore and fail to pick them up because my tiny amount inventory slots are full
very interesting! making a topic about this could be good; also, in regards to the silence, theyve been very active on socials, like twitter (i dont use it because i hate that hellhole but ive seen their tweets) and theyre doing a ton of stuff in the background, so yeah we got good stuff coming be sure of that
I’m noticing some worse spikes but only when I increase my target frame rate above sixty.
poggers, new patch is amazing
I’m on a gtx 1070 Asus oc edition I put a cap on 75 fps no issues what’s so ever except for when I exit sacrament and walk outside the gate there’s a 1 sec loading but everything else is smooth. I have my quality preset on balanced vsync off (Nvidia control panel vsync off) and motion blur off aswell as the framerate independent motion blur very important to turn off! My system runs at an average temperature of 68~ degrees Celsius I’m only using fan cooling. I’m not an expert so I don’t expect it to work the same for everyone else.
Things aren’t as bad for you as they seem. My FPS drops to 15 if I put a plague effect on a knight, the game turns into a prayer “Lord, at least I don’t die.”
My rig is running very well with little slowdown and some crashes when changing to new areas still but apart from that it runs very well. But then I am using 2080Ti
