As it stands, Plague Ichor is used to upgrade inventory space, ring slots and the like. But surely that isn’t the whole point of it, is it? Because I mean, the potential of it is baked straight into the lore of the game! Cerim can seemingly augment themselves with it. And all around, there are bosses and enemies that have different abilities and the like because of it.
Maybe this is something the team’s been working on, or thought about. And I don’t wanna come across as dismissive of their work. But I’ve seen Thomas talking about various systems and wanting to make them even more awesome, and maybe I’m in the minority with this, but I feel the current use of Plague Ichors aren’t the most awesome that they can be. I mean, you defeat this plague-ridden monstrosity and consume its blood and all to achieve more inventory space? I could sew a bag in half the time it took to track and kill the beasts of this world, and I wouldn’t need to ingest any blood to do so. And so, I’ve been thinking… why not give players an ultimate, of sorts? Abilities like those dudes that can elongate one of their arms? Each boss could come with a specific move that the player would get from defeating them; consuming Plague Ichor could in some small way make the Cerim more like the beasts they’re fighting, allowing you to use that move as like an ultimate, outside of your spells and such. Might be you could earn moves from the bandits you fight after defeating enough of them.
Now, I obviously don’t know the complexities of game development, and I’m sure the team’s got enough on their plates as is. But I was just thinking about this while playing the Breach, and so I figured I’d write these thoughts down and share them.
