Why don't whispers heal you?

I decline to agree that this is irony. Backtracking to any whisper takes <30 seconds due to the clever map design- it’s as good as free.

If you have low confidence in your skills, you can take the time to stock up on lots of food. It’s cheap, but it’s not nothing. It is an investment. Thus, the game is accessible, but it’s not trivialized for everyone who would prefer a modest challenge.

On the other hand, giving a free healing beacon that you can use after every fight nerfs the difficulty for the people who do enjoy a bit of challenge in the game. Free healing trivializes the difficulty - if we don’t agree on that, we don’t agree on anything.

The way that they have built the system allows both types of players to enjoy the game. The alternative is an easy mode, which I’m fine with, but likely won’t happen due to multiplayer.

Anyway, I have a feeling we’re not going to see eye to eye, so let’s let it go.

It’s clear that you don’t value your time as much as myself and various other people value our time. I think that’s the biggest difference. Backtracking is not free, and there’s certainly not a whisper available every 30 seconds (including back AND forth) at every point in the game, and I am guessing they will get placed further apart as we go deeper into the game.

Stay mindful that we are seeing the absolute start of the game. In dark souls terms, this is the Asylum + Firelink to Taurus Demon, maybe Bell Gargoyles
