Additional to the current “click button to swap weapons”, kindly allow us to use a D4/PoE2 style skillbar allocation.
With those games, you can have for example a dagger attack on A and a bow attack on B, and pressing the button will auto-swap to the allocated weapon. That makes multi-weapon builds much more fun to play.
Swapping weapons manually will still have a place though, for example for a torch in a cave, and for builds that want MANY allocated skills.
I dont think this is feasible for Wicked, but I have to agree with you that I always liked the seamlessness of that weapon swapping in Diablo 4, nice suggestion.
I suspect that with 1.0 and the class system we might lose even the swap button as there are no extra weapon slots in the new UI (only main hand and off hand) and all the ring and crafting slots are unlocked from the start.
This might be just in the beginning but thinking about it from a technical perspective it is more complicated now that you have a separate handling of all the runes and traits not exactly tied up to your weapon.
We will have to see when the beta test comes around.
I would feel quite gutted if this is the case. Multiple weapons is, in my view, a REALLY important feature for action roleplay and build crafting.
Not only for making super cool builds (GW1 Warrior/assassin had a cool mace+dagger combo build for example), but also for immersion. For example having a torch as off hand for caves, a wand+shield and 2-handed staff depending on enemy aggressiveness, and a bow for pulling enemies.
Unless they have some severe technical debt, I really don’t see the technical difficulty in this.
From the other comment, it does seem like they made a design decision which removes this as an option. However, I’d say that they need to reverse that decision.
It’s possible that they removed secondary/tertiary weapons during the heart surgery to reduce scope, and it just hasn’t been put back into it.
