Walk/Run button pressing vs joystick sensitivity

CONSICE FEEDBACK: Switch running from hold A on controller to use your joystick sensitivity to determine movement speed.

I understand the gameplay decision of wanting to hold down a button to run.

However, with a controller, why not use joy stick sensitivity to detect run/walk speed? I’ve noticed that with the button being shared for dodging it can be inconsistent using a controller. Which defeats the whole philosophy of being an active decision for the player.

I find having to hold the button to run to be rather clunky when you could instead just take joystick sensitivity for speed from the controller. On a computer you can always use L-SHIFT or something, but controllers have less buttons and i imagine at some point we’ll be able to map buttons.
