i kind of contradict myself here, by opening this extra thread even tho we were discussing that somewhere else, but for me that sounded worthy of a separate topic, so people can vote on it and share feedback for more visibility.
On its own, Ichor becomes useless relatively quickly after the story finishes - and for some effects you really want that plagued item (like I needed gloves and shield for example).
In context of Ichor I wouldn’t mind being able to burn in the fire to automatically get P4+10 zone either.
To be fair, the whole enchanting as it exists now in the game still feels pretty bad, but that’s another subject and a big can of worms.
the ichor system itself needs to be reworked, and as far as I know it will be.
Next, blue items need to be reworked. Make them useful. 2-3 properties, but a higher percentage.
Or
They already have some properties that you can’t get on purple ones. You need to completely eliminate the intersection between blue and purple ones.
And then there will be a choice of what exactly to wear and why.
Either the same +% to damage, but a higher percentage than purple, or unique properties that only blue can have.
won’t kill.
The number of affixes is smaller. Purple has 4 positive ones.
Let’s make 2 affixes for blue.
Blue will have +20% damage and 25% attack speed.
And purple will have 10% damage, 15% attack speed and 2 more useful affixes to choose from.
So choose, do you want to go exclusively on the attack, or add HP restoration and elemental enchantment.
As an example. Of course, all this needs to be thought out in more detail.
Damage reduction is a very strong characteristic. I got these on my purple ones. Even considering that I run in leather, even a knight doesn’t hurt me anymore.
So maybe leave this affix on the blue item only?
And on purple ones, make both stamina restoration, and additional rune damage, +% to HP and many other things.
It would make sense to use both options of things.
What practical sense is there in blue things? None, you can delete them and nothing will change.
I don’t think this is a good option
A straight 30% damage will be better than 10-15% damage, 10% attack speed, focus on build up and % damage decrease taken.
With purples you spend more embers optimizing for a roll, and each roll has less weight. People would just stick to blues.
It’s an intractable problem. The option that makes you do more damage is always the best option in any game with health pools, because the best defense and utility is actually offense, killing things faster so they give you less time to make a mistake and get punished for it.
I would say just remove blues and keep plagued.
In the topic of gear progression, what levels and character progression could do instead is that higher level gear improves your class attributes for the class system they are going to bring, and progressing the campaign and completing certain feats gives you more unlockable perks.
Horizontal progression is way cooler than vertical progression anyways.
You’re getting away from problem and trying to expand it out, which dilutes the conversation. It would be better to have a conversation about the enchanting system as a whole in another topic, there are plenty. This is about a simple update they can do to increase QoL for the player
2 hits for 130 seems better than 3 hits for 115. But it depends on the weapon. A greatsword has better 130 damage. And fast daggers with elements have better 3 hits, with slightly less damage.
We have gone too far into reasoning exclusively about damage. Which I took right away, as an example of the difference in percentages.
Maybe then it makes sense to remove all the defense afixes, leave only damage - that’s optimization. Since the rest is not needed, right?
It’s a shame that we can’t make something guaranteed epic.
Please give the ability to use “Plague Ichor” to turn a common or rare item into an epic one.
This even fits into the game lore, the epic item has a debuff, that is, desecration, and using ichor infects the item, making it desecrated.
Having a vender that you can bring to Sacrament the same way as you can recruit the potion seller would be an ideal method. This way you can bring enchanted items from Elenors shop and for a price (please not outrageous like the crazy prison vender) you could curse the item using the old ways or some other reason.
A while back I tried to suggest that the issue is also that enchanting white items has a random chance of doing blues or purples, and depending on what you’re looking for either can harm your build. It’s better if there’s deterministic ways of doing both when you need to in general.
