If you plan to have pitch black zones in the game, you should be able to have a source of light, not only from weapon enchantments, but torches.
As of right now, you can’t enchant torches anymore to be indestructible, so if you have to go to many of the pitch black zones, you must bring at least a few torches, because just by having them in the hand, the durability decreases. What’s the point on having to buy so many torches or use enchantments for this? This is a bad experience system for the player that can be EASILY FIXED, just put infinite torches, and for two handed weapons… You should be able to put the torch in the offhand, but let the torch be in you back or in your hip as uf you were having a belt, in order for you to be able to see. Or just make the character have a little bit of light, but it would more cool with torches
Torches are the budget version of the Utility Rune: Illuminate. The cost is a few copper and an inventory slot. Should we stop using illuminate and let torches be infinite? Well, utility runes to help your team are badass and one person should have them. What about solo? we can plan what content we’re getting into. resistances, potions, and utility runes are great ways to make up for the skill + level gap between players and content.
My team was in a dark dungeon and only one person found a torch in a chest so we followed together or got lost, had to go back and get people. It is memorable content and I’m glad it’s part of the game.
Could it be on your belt instead? These lantern ideas are worth something if you crafted them but a torch will always be a cheap low-level answer to darkness. We can totally craft lanterns instead that offer a smaller blue glow on the tool belt instead of an entire off-hand. Meanwhile, offhand and illuminate will grant a larger glow.
Torches are wielded at the expense of having a shield, 2nd weapon or 2H weapon equipped, where as the spell does not get in the way of what you’re holding in your hands. I don’t see why (gameplay wise) Torches need a low durability.
true, that is good reason to have infinite durability. At least for now we can use enchanted weapons to provide some light. Maybe torches are so awful, it’s to have people ask themselves “what other things provide light?” Lol.. creating the problem and selling the solution.
Well they once were able to be Enchanted and also Infinite because of the indestructible Enchant.
you can use either a Fire or Ice infusion on a weapon to light up your surroundings.
i hate using lightning as light source only annoying so cant recomend it..
