The one big almighty Transmog topic

Im also doing a sword and board build, but Im trying to do a more ‘heavy knight’ build that uses a great shield and shoving.

I like using the Stormwall Armour set and the Crestfallen Knight Armour set.

I think games should be inclusive and not exclusive. The solution to transmogs and PvP is as simple as turning it off during PvP.

MMORPGs have done it, so I dont see why No Rest cant do it. Have faith in the devs, let them cook.

Another player treating NRFTW like “his” game. Zenith, let other players enjoy it and speak with respect. Whether you like it or not, NRFTW is not a pure role-playing game like Planescape: Torment, Pillars of Eternity, or BG3. Besides, Thomas has talk that there will be PvP, so why all the hate? Enjoy NRFTW, its world, and allow other players to enjoy a PvP system that could be fun and excellent, like almost everything this game offers.

Repeat, I like cosmetics and I want them. I don’t want to take anything away from you, I just wish those changes could only be seen by the player themselves, and if they want to share them (which is perfectly natural), other players could see them by inspecting the character.

Agree with the last part. Can’t stand my character wearing a jumbled mess of an outfit. Breaks my immersion and ruins the RP I have for my Cerim.

This is literally what I said in my reply you quoted, to keep the PvP limitations without hurting PvE players.

It is you who told me I cannot enjoy transmog as I want it because you want to play PvP. You don’t own the game anymore than PvE players do, and it’s unfair when players who want to play single player PvE as the format of an RPG traditionally is are punished by some online multiplayer pvp gimmick.

I will never participate in only pvp, I’ve had enough toxic trolls in WoW and league and Overwatch to know the format is infested with people who behave badly because without human GMs personally checking reports, automated systems are worthless and pvp trolls never get punished, so people in online multiplayers behave like psychopaths to strangers with impunity.

At no point did I say you shouldn’t enjoy cosmetics, and honestly, I think you’re getting a bit worked up. Meanwhile, there’s someone here talking like PvP players should just suck it up and NRFTW is their game:

Where did I say you can’t enjoy cosmetics? I simply explained why cosmetics (as Thomas already mentioned) have an impact on PvP, and I made a suggestion so they can exist without causing that issue. My advice: relax a bit before reading and replying

You are selectively editing out the following sentence, which stated that if limits need to exist for the sake of PvP, to let them exist in PvP.

I’ll be honest. I don’t think this conversation will be productive. You already DM’d me your thread when I submitted feedback about how good hotfix 3 was, and the thread is titled how to make the game accessible without dumbing it down. I know what the implication of that DM’d thread was, that the game is being dumbed down. And we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

We are coming to the game for different reasons and desires, and you can advocate for yours while I’ll advocate for mine and let the cards fall where they may.

Found the same 4 items is almost imposible if they cant be crafted…

A limitation can be transfigure only same type of armour, but man transfigure can be epic with this designssssss

I wouldn’t mind an unlock transmog system. When you get the stats or level requirement to use something, it unlocks and you can reskin any piece of the same kind with that skin. That way, the thematic of the game is intact, noobs look like noobs, and it doesn’t turn into an MTX shop that trivializes finding gear in the world over swiping.

maybe this could be done with a quest for the cloth sisters. do something for them and they reward u with the option to change the appearence of your gear. this will be shown to u and coop players, but when in pvp, the original gear is shown.

that way we would get a NPC quest, our fashion urges would be satisfied, in coop we could boast with our nice and shiny new jacket and in pvp we would still see if the opponent is wearing mesh, cloth or plate.

edit: to get recipes for transmog gear/layered armor you would need to find a piece of armor u want to use, give it to the cloth ladies, they destroy it (analyze it) and hand u the transmog blueprint.

I cannot be the only one who fervently desires a more tailored (pun intended) fashion experience here! I love all clothing and armor designs but I don’t always love the outfits I come up with due to the RNG.
It would be just so awesome to have some form of transmogrification/layered armor to armonize everything, or even just so we can create the perfect look!

There’s also some clipping of armor that becomes apparent when you have wider/baggy pants and a full robe.

The pants by the knee and wider bottom edges clip through the Blackhaven mage robe.

i agree to some extent, but i understand also the other side, imagine some type of armor has cool look, but you are using completly different type, well at some point all players will look the same, therefore it diminishes overall variability of looks of all players. Thats said, i rly love the lether shadow set, but since it is only lvl 11, i was forced to use cloth armor of lvl 21 in combination of plated armor to get all my tankiness up, but i would love to stick with the lether armor look from lvl 11 because it looked sick and fith the narative of the character. At the end, my character looks like clown, but it is killing everything like biggest gigachad.

You can actually get any armor to the same level just by upgrading it. I think the max level equipment rank is 16?

I see your point but to a certain extent does it really matter? I mean I play this game solo exclusively and I see no other players so to me the way “I” look is the only one that matters. Also I would literally create hundred of different looks and combinations, it’s like a game in the game for me. You’d be surprised how many layered armor sets I created in Monster Hunter Wilds, using all sorts of different assortments.
Maybe one way to do it and still having it be meaningful would be to let us transmog/layer only armor we have obtained and that is the same class of the armor we want to change the look of.
Like medium withe medium, light with light and so on.
Could end up being too complicated but still, worth considering maybe?

same goes for fashion souls. i wore pretty much every set in every fromsoft game, just for the purpose of roleplaying or just looking good, not because of its stats.

and since the gear stat really matter in wicked, its not so easy to just switch a piece for something u like the looks of. it can ruin your entire build if u are missing on critical enchantment affixes.

Since every item and reward is rng based, you cant get a proper appearance.
Even the cerim gear youve given us is useless for everyone who doesnt use mesh armor.
And for those who use it, it still can be useless if the enchantment fails or youve put the wrong infusion in it.
Since most of the armors look bad, its almost impossible to look good and have a decent build in this game.

So give us transmog like almost every game does.
Let us actually have fun while playing the game.

The arguement to visually distinguish armor weight on players is pointless and also doesnt really work for most armors except plates.
Most armors look very very similar despite being different weight classes.
Dont destroy every aspect of the game with decisions like that.

moved this to the ongoing discussion.

Besides that I would love to have being able to swap my armor set appearences as well. I know what thomas thinks about skins he said that it should be clear which equip are players on by their look espacially for pvp. But they can impliment and limit it to equipment type so for example you can only select between other cloth armor appearence if you equip cloth helm etc.

Honestly at first I did wish for transmog. But as I played more I realized that there are so many different armor sets, that you can find a look or style in almost every weight class. And the chase for the different sets that suit your style gives a reason to chase gear and blueprints. The gear differential is mostly cosmetic, and much less function; it’s not like other games where the gear stats and functions are very specific to that one item so the need for transmog makes more sense.

I have made so many outfit variations now, which also works out because I can make puzzle pieces out of the gear variations for different purposes also.

And there is aesthetic value to heavy armor looking heavy, and light looking light.

My mini projects that have given me tons of playtime involves setting up my fashion outfits as purples with fully optimized stats etc. BUT toward your preference, once setup, I do wish that particular stat config could look like another at times. Helms especially, because sometimes they just don’t fit the outfits and you cannot afford the weight or want the better resist stats etc.
