Steam Cloud progress from a co-op session did not upload before switching devices — can I continue using an older cloud save?

Last night, I played No Rest for the Wicked in co-op on my old PC. I joined a friend-hosted world and was not the host. After the session, the Steam Cloud save appears to have failed to upload.

Today, my old PC was formatted and the local save files are no longer recoverable. When launching the game on a new device, Steam warns that last night’s progress was not synced to the cloud, and that continuing may cause progress loss.

The earliest available Steam Cloud save on my account is from two days ago.|

Question

  • With local saves permanently lost, is it safe/valid to continue playing using the older Steam Cloud save?

  • Could this cause any issues with co-op or character progression?

Hey Stellagodlike,

It should be safe except the lost progress of course (sorry about that), but also you probably need to find out. Have you tried it yet?
