Faster weapons should always apply status effects much faster.
Like in every other game.
Faster weapons do less dmg, poise dmg and have less reach.
But they cost less stamina, weight and apply faster status effects.
Thats how balance works.
To give bigger weapons also the benefit of status effects you should apply this method.
Status effect build up is based on the weapons dmg like it is right now, but on top of it every hit applies also an additional flat status build up number.
So faster weapons always build up status effects much faster.
Ofc you have to rebalance the status effect build up numbers.
And another important thing is, to remove the status effect build up immunity after 100% was reached.
Right now the enemy is immune to build up for like 1-2 seconds after 100% was reached.
That makes faster weapons like daggers even worse, because the next hits simply dont apply status effects.
Where slower weapons still apply status effects with almost every hit, because the 1-2 second immunity isnt long enough for their slower attacks.
You can ofc lower the overall status build up speed for everyone, to make the game more balanced.
Or lower the damage of status build ups.
I dont know, that needs to be tested.
But this method of applying status build up is by far the absolute best.
