Some affixes are useless

When checking affixes of weapons, there are affixes that are basically useless 100% of the time.

Useless affixes like :

1. Indestructible: There is not a single time or moment that this affix would be better than a stat boost.
2. Gain more xp / lose xp on death: First this affix is long and clutter the screen of my steamdeck lol.
3. Chance to gain coper on kill: It’s mostly useless and also clutter my screen. It also removes some immersion imo.
4. Gold loss on death:. It’s not a funny mechanic imo.

I would rather only have useful affixes. Everytime I drop a weapon with one of these affixes, I feel like the weapon is “dirty”.

Cursed equipements should have a bad stat like -10% armor, everytime it’s something like gold/xp loss, we don’t care at all to loose some gold/xp in the end game.

Every affix should be potentially useful basically imo.

Thanks for reading the feedback guys !

there is one. indestructible on an off hand torch

Affixes should be potentially useful in every equipement, it is only potentially useful for one weapon in the game and it’s hardly considered a weapon.

agreed, but there have also been quite a few complaints about durability when dying a lot. even after the nerfs. while i personally basically never need repair powder, some people might be more relaxed when they know their favorite item does not break while grinding crucible or farming stuff for example.

with the others i partially agree. at least with the long affix names.

the cash on kill is nice when farming tho. and i do not see any immersion issues. u basically auto rob the dead bodies lol

my general thoughts – having too many affixes will inflate the size of the affix pool, making all the fun enchantments have a lower chance of appearing. there’s multiple ways of navigating this:

  1. combining multiple affixes together
  2. restricting an affix to the gear type(s) it’s most interesting on
  3. if all else fails, removing an affix entirely

but there’s also the problem of affixes getting progressively less useful as you get more powerful/wealthy.
“gain copper on kill” seems really good at early on, but once you’re at tier 3 and you’re earning thousands, the coppers you get are chump change.

that’s why i propose:

  1. change the strength of affixes based on the tier of the item.

this way,
a tier1 item will get a low amount of money on kill.
a tier2 will give a medium amount.
a tier3 will give a high amount.

so on and so on for future tiers that haven’t been introduced.

i’m aware with potential issues with this. it’d be confusing if your weapon suddenly had more potent affixes after you upgraded it a tier, so it’s definitely not perfect and would probably need better indication ingame.

we’ll all see how they handle boring affixes whenever the enchanting update drops

Indestructible is not a bad affix itself, the fault lies in the durability mechanic for being irrelevant and shallow. And yeah the indestructible torch thing is silly, but i think the only reason its a real problem is because torches shouldnt be a stat stick either way.

Exp gain is good, and exp loss on death is an interesting tradeoff, game has no punishment for dying otherwise. But i dont think an unslottable “increased xp gain” affix should have to compete with things that actually transform and enhance the gameplay.
copper on kill is fine, but once again, se above
Gold loss on death isnt really bad but i do think its way too punishing with how you cant store your gold anywhere.

I honestly think there are far worse cases. For example
“More armor % at full focus” and other full-focus enchants are usually pretty awful. Theyre just directly worse than the affixes that dont require full focus, and they encourage you to use a less interesting/less diverse moveset for stat buffs. I also dont like how nearly every weapon primarily wants the “+damage, heal on hit, focus on hit” trifecta and most other affixes feel like inferior fillers so you dont get an OP weapon every time
