Shortcut for switching gear (¿loadouts?)

Intro

Hello I started playing the game recently and I thoroughly enjoy it; it’s becoming one of my favorite games very quickly!

So I’m here to bring up a topic that I consider important in many games that have a big array of itemization; and that’s the idea of loadouts (a way to save custom pre-sets of equipment and the ability the change between said sets in a quick and practical manner).

Statement of the issue

Who doesn’t love a game that gives you thousands of different combinations to customize your play style? We all do! But why do we have thousands of different combinations to play with and no comfortable way to switch between them?

If you want to switch your play style, there’s a lot of moving parts to consider, it takes time to switch all the gear piece by piece, and if you like your current build you’d have to spend double the time to change back to it; and oops…did you forget about a specific piece of equipment? Which one was it? You have a lot of stuff stored in that chest, you’re gonna have to dig through it and read a lot of descriptions to find the finishing piece of your carefully designed build!

I personally love designing different builds for my characters in all the games I play; but for some reason the concept of having loadouts hasn’t become a standard practice in the development of these games… why? Surely we’re not expected to stick to a single set of armor and weapons when we have so many options to play with (of course we can create different characters, but then we have to grind the leveling; how many characters are we willing to create if we have ideas for 10 different builds? And what if I’d like 3 different Dex builds? I would be leveling the same stats on several characters)

Idea of a solution

I’m thinking there’s two cool ways that this game could implement a loadout system.

  1. By adding the option into the whispers; this would be the most direct and practical option to switch between different builds if you want a new approach to defeat that monster that made you respawn.

  2. By making a craftable item (wardrobe?) that we can visit and store pre-sets of items in and replace our currently equipped gear with a saved set, this is a more grounded idea that requires more thoughtful decisions to make before going out to adventures (so as not to travel back home too often).

There’s also potential to make loadouts a part of the progression of each character; maybe the whispers will unlock loadout slots as the story advances, or may be by offerings we could unlock a slot each time.

Or there could be different tiers of wardrobes where the basic one can fit 1 or 2 slots; but there’ll be more advanced crafted wardrobes with 8-10 slots?

P.S.

As I was reading my post prior to sending it. It occurred to me that another cool idea would be having craftable manikins that we can equip our items on and switch with; this would allow for a single loadout slot per item but a higher tier could be a big glass showcase than fits several slots. This would also play a huge role in the customization of home decor, I’m excited just thinking about it :head_shaking_vertically:.

Also I forgot to consider that each loadout should probably offer the ability to save stats as well, since not all the builds will be effective with the same stats.

Conclusion

That’s all! I appreciate the time you spent reading my post, I think this is an immense quality of life addition that will encourage players to experiment and be creative with their characters, it adds interesting progression options and potential for customizing our homes and roleplaying with friends. I hope you all life the idea!

Addendum

This would also help significantly alleviate the inventory limitations that a lot of players are having issues with; since it would offer an option of extra storage and utility other than simply creating gargantuan chests or increasing characters’ “pockets” capacity..

Personally a lot of my storage is taken by pieces of armor and weapons that I like and I wanna build around them at some point.
