Sacrament's Unemployment Rate

After I watch this video I wonder if they @thomasmahler will convert npc dialogues based on multiple choices in the future? I’m not a big fan of that type of rpg but I bet that it would be so good for those rpg fans.

Doubt it.

This is more like a JRPG than a western RPG, it’s a curated story, not one in which you have narrative branching and player input.

It’s like a lot of budget and development into that and then the story would need kinda differents plots and stuff. I like it but it’s very hard and expensive, I feel the story it’s intented as a linear experience in NRFTW.

The only game I’ve seen that does it well outside traditional single player RPG’s is SW:KTOR, and that was old Bioware.

But since Moon wants to incorporate a lot of features, including multiplayer and PvP, it’s just not feasible for a team of 90 people because a branching narrative RPG is a LOT of work, it’s usually its main design budget alongside the core gameplay and assets.

agreed, unlikely to happen…
and I mean, considering everything, I don’t believe it makes sense to make it so even w/ great effort…
and as you’ve mentioned, having multiplayer present (the way Moon seems to envision it) pushes it towards nope
but what do I know? been wrong B4 XD

They may add more interactions between player and NPCs, like the couple that you can get to meet at the tavern but as branching story-line is unlikely to happen.

It’s also really hard because unlike most branching RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance, or the Bioware games, Moon Studios DOES NOT do mocap.

Thomas is a big believer in hand animated characters. And he is right, the hand animated cutscenes in this game are spectacular.

But what they also are is extremely labor intensive compared to mocap.

So imagine the mountain of labor to handcraft each alternative dialogue/scene for animators.
