Remove misinformation from store page

hello

remember this handsome devil? it’s still on the steam store page.
that’s right. the inaccurate, unfulfilled waterfall model roadmap made for one of the most experimental games of recent years is still there, tricking people on the steam store.

wicked inside is soon, and there’ll be an updated roadmap anyway, so clear it out.

preferably, don’t use another waterfall model — a model notorious for not boding well with feedback — for a game that integrally relies on feedback.

Agreed, we have discussed this a lot on steam, outdated roadmap leads to misinformation, people will see the breach coming out and think we have multiplayer, and since a lot of people will only buy the game after MP is in, there will be an avalanche of pissed off people on steam.

i wrote that at 6 AM with no sleep and it shows. it was also based off a 3AM wicked discord rant and it shows.
now that i can think straight, let me elaborate on why was being so passive aggressive, via a method colloquially known as “writing a 5 paragraph essay”:

——

for the past [big number] months, i’ve watched the wicked community and you wanna know what stuck out to me? the loads of misinformation.

wicked is an extremely complex game, so confusion is a pestilence that spreads rapidly. people come up with false narratives and speculate wildly.

people get caught up in these false narratives, then when the devs contradict it (especially with no immediately evident reason), it makes those people feel betrayed and they get angry.

when people are angry, it makes the community worse. it pours more negativity into the environment. the anger rubs off on others, and leads to a bit of a cesspit if you ask me.

this is not healthy.
this should never happen to a community.
you should not want this in your community.

complex games like wicked need top tier communication.
this is not a choice. if you’re working on such a hard-to-follow project, side-by-side with the community, then at least make sure your partner, the community, knows what the heck is going on.

if you decide you’re slotting in a major update to release before the one people were expecting, tell all customers why beforehand.
if you’re about to go on a long radio silence, tell all customers why beforehand.

they need to know your thought process. not from a fan-upkept news list, directly from your mouths.

[thing] was private division’s fault, not moon’s.

yes. im aware that some things here may’ve been partially or completely out of the devs’ control.
even still, i believe there’s some things that could’ve been done or at least argued for, before and after this transaction.
they should always be doing what they can.

wicked inside will address [thing], / the breach will address [thing].

that is great. i’m happy to see that improvements are being made to dev-to-customer relations.
but it’s important to remember that wicked inside / the breach will not magically change the past, or immediately reverse all damage that has been done.
releasing a good update or deep dive won’t make everyone immediately trust a development team.
there will still be false info and wrong speculation everywhere, and that can only be rectified with months (or even years) worth of high transparency.

don’t feed the trolls

a non-zero number of people complaining about the state of the game are trolls, yes, but it’s not even close to all of them.
there are many people genuinely concerned or worried about what’s going on and they deserve better.

you’re just a doomer

look man, it’s possible to criticize a game and love it at the same time.
wicked inside is in 2 days, and my body is vibrating trying to contain a blazar of excitement, knowing i’ll get to analyze every microscopic detail of a 25+ minute deep dive.

i love the game and wish the larger playerbase felt as connected to the development as wickedcord does.

i wish the larger playerbase had the info they need to get as hype as i am about everything coming, and i pray communication will finally be held to that standard now that moon is self publishing.

make it count, moon. make it count.
