PS4 controller will not work at all

So I make sure it’s plugged into the computer, load up the game. Nothing.

I’ve made sure that the steam input for the game is enabled, per game override

I’ve made sure PlayStation controller support is enabled on the steam global settings

I load the game up… the keyboard-add works, but no buttons on the controller work at all.

I’ve tested the controller on other games and it works. I don’t get it. Help!

Anybody have a suggestion here? Anybody know the exact controller this company assumes we should have to play this game?

I’ve got a friend who’s saying an xbox controller works for him. Is this what other people are seeing? I am willing to shell out $30 for the controller, I guess, but not if it’s not going to work.

There’s a Steam one for $30 on amazon. Any suggestions? Really want to enjoy this game, but first it wouldn’t run on my computer. Got a new one. Now it won’t take either controller I have. I’ve bought a new wire to use.

All of the controllers and wires work on other games. I straight up do not understand what’s going on at this point.

I am not sure, but for me the PS4 controller works just fine. I have this problem with some other game tho from time to time.

Things that i try if encountering the issue:

  • use steam big picture (yeah i know its shit, but sometimes it helps)
  • create a new controller setup/profile in steam, meaning i check all input settings, change LED color, rename controller etc. this sometimes “magically” resets the controller profile
  • check all enabling options, there should be 3: disabled, enabled and enabled in games without support

bluetooth also shows most issues, so i plug in my controller with a cable, but thats likely a windows issue

which brings me to another thing you could try: check windows settings for your controller.

aside from the usual and the above, i don’t know what else you could try. maybe someone else has ideas?

Edit: also some games have issues when steam ingame overlay is enabled. maybe try to enable and disable this option as well?

Steam has always had issues with Ps4 controllers.

Two ways

Controller setup in steams built in controller support.
or
Third party app like Ds4.

We will look into it on our end to see if we can do anything on our end.

Try the program “DS4Windows”. When Steam does not work for me, usually DS4Windows does. But sounds like a problem with steam, you could try disable steam controller input also
