Ill give you an example of what I mean , while playing through the game I got the kindler armor as a drop , ( Kindlers are the bomb throwing enemies) I thought it was super cool but when I looked at the stats it was basically a generic leather armor with random enchants
It would have been super cool if it had a trait seperate from the enchants that gave you increased bomb damage or chance to not consume bomb.
Another example is the icebreaker int scaling claymore , the only thing about it that makes it Ice is that it comes with Cold enchant rune on it that you can easily remove , What if it had a trait that allowed you to break frozen enemies with cold damage rather than physical? you can easily make a build around it!
The same thing goes for boss drops I got the falstead armor and the caretaker armor and there wasnt anything about them that stands out. Currently the only different thing about armors is their type ( cloth plate etc) and every item you get is a different skin of the same item.
This is less of an issue with weapons because the moveset makes them stand out but still they could use traits to make them more exciting.
I really love the visual design of the armor/weapons and I really hope you guys add traits to make each one more exciting gameplay wise because currently im not super excited when I get new armor , and im only interested in new weapons to check out the moveset.
Thank you so much and I really hope you consider this it would add so much depth and addcitive excitement to the loot game!! Especially now that you can level any armor to max level!
Since they’re also planning a new update to leveling where you can choose different classes based on different weapons and armors, the suggested skills are probably going to be part of that. Like if you level a class that deals with explosives, you’ll be able to unlock a passive skill for that separately from the weapon enchantments that you can take to other classes.
That sounds cool and all but it doasnt solve the gear issue , I just gave those as an example but the gear needs more identity as a whole , its very boring when armors are just different skins and have nothing unique about them
One feature they could add to give gear more identity is a passive set bonus, depending on the type of gear you’re using and the number of pieces from the same type.
Something like this would add identity to armor types and allow for more build customization. It could also introduce some RNG based on armor type and attributes — for example, Mesh could favor more defensive stats, Cloth more mobility or magic-based ones, etc.
Not a fan of set bonuses but also that does not give gear identity , it gives a gear TYPE but each individual item is still bland.
The TYPES of armor in the game ( cloth leather mesh plate ) are already differntiated by their defense and weight value , this doasnt add anything to it
Differentiated badly, as it just makes cloth armor terrible and basically a budget armor with no advantage for caster builds.
You can make a caster build and use mesh and still be as effective in spell damage and have the same availability of spells and focus pool while also running a melee weapon if you want, which will do more damage than a staff, you’ll have more armor than cloth, and your Plague Splatter will still 1-2 shot bosses.
No doubt but im talking about the actual armors themselves and weapons , right now most of them have nothing that differentiates them from each other.
There could be 6 sets of plate armor in the game but every single item is the same because it draws from the same pool of enchantments , im suggesting each item in the game be given a unique trait to make it stand out.
This could also solve the problem you mentioned since they could give some focus related traits to some of the cloth armor to make using it viable.
The overall issue is there is no excitement when getting a new piece of armor since it cant have anything thats new compared to every armor i got previously
Yeah, I can agree to that. We’ll see what their systems updates brings, they look pretty promising.
If anything, their telemetry can tell them what armor types and enchantments are being used mostly, and they can also make adjustments based on this data.
