[Patched] Game crashes when switching characters in main menu with Xbox controller

I’m playing on PC and if I plug in my xbox controller then the game crash.
It happened after the Early Access hotfix 5.

I want to play on controller cause it’s much more easier so please solve it

  • Happens after hotfix five

  • Issue can be consistently reproduced.

  • Not sure how to find the log files, tried looking with the dev provided extension, nothing came up

  • Specifics of occurrence: On startup, with Xbox Series X controller connected via USB cable or wirelessly, in main menu, use left stick or dpad to switch between existing characters, game crashes. Issue does not occur if you select “continue” with controller, game still consistently crashes when attempting to switch characters.

  • Note: I am not sure if it is specifically when selecting characters, or just a left input on the main menu that causes the bug response, both may be possiblilities.

  • Personal Note: I enjoy the game a great deal, but I have a pretty hard time playing it without controllers, and I had just created a new character last night. So I would greatly appreciate it if this issue could be resolved as soon as possible.

I have the same issue, but it happens specifically when I am in the main menu and try to hit left to switch characters. Can you share any specifics of how and when the bug happens?
If I boot up the game with my controller on a USB and hit “continue”, I get into the game with controller working just fine.

same way, if I only in the main menu for a bit long and it crash, but after I in the game and then come back to main menu the game is not crashing. That’s all I can tell you

Yes, same issue for me, try to go left for a character and it crashes instantly, guess I will try again after a different patch, idk.

I get the same issue also using an xbox controller but not sure if that has anything to do with it. I have a beefy rig with a 4090 and 32 gigs of ram so there is no reason for the game to crash on the hardware end. I checked Event viewer on my PC and I can’t find it as an application crash so I don’t know what is going on exactly.
