Open up Steam in big picture mode > settings > control settings. check to see if it’s reading this way and default settings are there. Run the game in this mode. See you able to control your character. Once this all works well. You should now be able to use this normally without Big Picture Mode.

Yesterday I try a lot of stuff.
Changing the type of food, using the same, in the middle of different combats, after restart, changing the steam input, etc…
In my case, all the time I had the same result.
Also, I’m a newbie in this type of games and I think I can’t do a perfect in a boss fighti XD
Agree with your message, yesterday after one of my test I saw a fast chage in the screen and I discover that.
Maybe the timming is really short because when I did the test out of combat, I didn’t press the button too long and this didn’t work after 3-4 times.

Hi. I have the same kind of issues. I’m using a Xbox Wireless Carbon Black controller. I just bought it, never use a controller on PC before, but this game is pretty good and the mouse & keyboard original mapping is aweful. So, I bought a controller.
Most of the time, everything is fine, but then, the X button (power with a light in) start to flash, and controller disconnect. Whatever i’m doing. While in combat, my character stop moving, I try to switch to keyboard and not get killed. Even worst when the running direction stay on, controller get disconnected and my character run automatically into a hole, or directly into the boss weapon swing.
I’m new at the Souls like game, the difficulty level is good, I don’t complain. But getting killed with a controller disconnection is really frustrating.
I wrote about it to Private Division Support, they redirected me here.
Can the community help me setting this up ? Or, help me send my issues to the right channel/site/game support forum ?

Ok, game could be really great !
anyway I just can’t play at all now because food don’t activate with my controller and not even with the keyboard… Sometimes it worked randomly as I smashed all the buttons around (activating and ruining some other random buffs lol), but now it’s not working at all…
The keyboard/mouse don’t work because the cursor disapear randomly, and I haven’t used a controller since playstation 1 and never played any soulike game, so I really suck !
I want to learn but I seriously can’t without any healing…
that sounds weird. have u by any chance remapped your keys/changed your keybind settings? maybe u accidentally used some keys for multiple actions?
Yeah!! I’m so bad that I can have accidentally used some keys at once for sure ;)… I tried again this morning, it somewhat worked but inconsistently at best. Maybe it’s a combination of some interaction between keyboard and controller that give some weird stuff, or my controller is just too old.
I’ll try again soon, and will let a comment on this, thanks for answer!
