I’ve played some of this kind of games for quite a while, I feel something with the parry in Wicked is off, like button have to be pressed before we are hit to do a successful parry. Been trying it with Sacrament dummy, only way to do a good parry is to press the button when the dummy is doing like a slight arm back movement. But if I press the button when I’m about to be hit, I have to eat that hit and no parry is done. I’m even using a controller where RT is not analog but just an on-off button. So, is there really something wrong with the game or I’m just bad at parrying? If you have an advice, please share. Can’t wait for V1.0!!
I don’t think it’s really a problem, I don’t find parries hard to do.
It took me a sec to get used to the timing as well. This is not Sekiro timing. You aren’t trying to press the button right when you get hit. Instead, think of it as an action that has a slight wind up that creates a window where if you get hit, you parry. This window is actually much larger than something like Sekiro, where it’s very small and the timing is very precise. You have to parry much earlier. So consider the shield parry animation. The wind up, i.e. pulling the shield back, has no parry frames, but almost the whole swing does, beginning to end.
even thought it’s to my benefit, I find the timing weird, too. Not the wind up but the parry window. I feel like it lasts too long, where my character is pulling their arms back after the parry animation, and the enemy still recoils.
the visual of those kinetics are off to me.
Yeah, just watch your character’s animation. it takes a moment to raise their arms into parry stance.
