Off-hand Dagger Proposal

Please make a new class of daggers that can be wielded as an off-hand daggers. Running around with sword and bow in your hand is just ugly and unwieldy. Sword and dagger, wakizashi and tanto?

Please.

+1 to that.

I think with the new class, this could be a thing

I can’t understand how this never came during development.

I was just about to make this suggestion. I think a crazy idea might be that all single Daggers can go in either hand, and dual wielding them could produce different movesets, or just simply be used with any weapon as a worse parry option with the tradeoff for blocking being a backstab bonus.

I love the dual daggers and movesets that exist currently, but what if they could all then just be split off into single daggers where the main hand or combination determines the movset for dual wield. The build potential and usefulness of daggers would be tenfold!

Oooooo…yes please. Or having the bows being a main wield with a dagger in the offhand.

Worthy of another suggestion! Yes, we are cooking in this post.

great idea!!! (even tho I don’t necessarily think sword and bow being as ugly as described LOL)
(could be a tad more elegant tho, I’ll admit XD )
(also, in this context, Tachi and Wakizashi, as in - 大小 - would work better IMHO)

it’s too difficult and time-consuming to come up with and draw animations for something like this

same

they can introduce a dagger for the second hand, but it will work like a bow, either one hand or the other.
Combine… Seriously imagine how much work that is.

First, the game needs to be finished, and only then, when everything is ready and done well, can we think about such options.

This is true, however, when asking you reach for the stars, and be happy with a middle ground. There’s already dual dagger moveset animations, and when wielded just one off-hand it would operate like a shield or bow. Really not asking for that many animations if you think about it, and it’d be great to have more off-hand options.

I’m sure there will be many more options for the second hand. The principle of operation is like a bow or a shield.

But there was also a desire to make daggers to work in tandem with other weapons and this is already too much work that no one will do.

They’ve added weapons with the last patch. Theyre adding rune attacks or utility runes to shields i thought i heard last week. The work is ongoing.

My vision for offhand dagger would be LT-Parry and maybe a rune attack and/or a backstab animation with a bonus multiplier. Throwing daggers would be a sick rune option. Anyway this is all a suggestion, i do not presume anything at all.

the game should first be brought to 1.0 in some form, before going into the diversity of weapons and their techniques.

Look at the last post, how much are they planning… Will the game come out?)

I guess we’ll agree to disagree. I’ll put forward my suggestions while we’re in the early access period, and be happy with what they ultimately land on for 1.0 and beyond.

It will not be too time consuming to allow existing daggers to be equipped in either hand with one minor change. If a dagger was to equipped in the off-hand slot, it would have no autoattack or simple jab. All runes on it would be usable just as the bow runes are.

The scottish dirk for example was used main hand or off hand with a sword or cudgel and even with dirk and shield with a main hand sword. Daggers are sweet, I even own a few.

Another cool one would be crude flintlock naval pistols.

They said firearms will never be in the game.

Thats fine, it’s a can of worms to be certain. A pistol that takes 10 seconds to load is not power creep vs a staff that nukes 90% of the screen, but i get it. Basicly once firearms came along, all that was left of swords after long was knives and daggers.

+1, I support!
When I was playing, I also thought about why it is that you can only take a shield in your second hand, and not a second sword or dagger. Oh, and by the way, the theme with a bow in your left hand, didn’t work for me personally. The bow should be in the main hand, like…

If by “offhand” you mean a stat stick with runes, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to implement. A bit boring though.
But you have my vote.
