Not a fan of elemental/physical % damage affixes

All these affixes do is lock you down both in consumable but also runeset use to a single element, destroying combinations and build variety in rune usage.

Take for example, the elemental oils. I run a % physical damage that is about 40-50%+ extra physical damage from affixes on armor and weapons. It is too good to pass up focusing on a single elemental type boost since the damage scaling is multiplicative.

An elemental oils with 20% boost will never be worth it from changing what your armor and weapon affixes boost. In essence, I’m locked to just using the physical % oil and nothing else situationally because the damage loss is humongous.

Same goes for runes. I will never want to use a flame uppercut or plague wretch or spirit burst over tremor wave/buster rift/skyfall punch/tempest kick because the latter runes benefit from 50% more damage from gear affixes whereas the elemental ones do not.

These kinds of affixes that disincentivize combination usage suck, and the problem is that there are no competitive alternatives for players who want the flexibility of mixing different damage types for playstyle variety.

I shouldn’t be discouraged from wanting to spice things up and rotate runes in and out of my weapons or use different weapon oils.

And with they horrible changes to exalting locking out affix rerolls unless you void the item entirely, it isn’t even feasible to modify the gear to mix things up.

You’ll have to carry a whole set of gear for each elements with the player’s abysmally small inventory size and problems, and even then each set will be singularly focused on a single element.

This is not good. Removing combination possibilities is not good design.

If I want to play an avatar style monk using the different elements, that is a highly suboptimal playstyle given the current affix design and gearing system. Same for mages and spellblade melee styles that don’t want to be single element.

You make alot of Valid points here but its still Your Opinion.

For You and others who feel the same, but not for everyone.

There are Hybrid builds, but are you willing to do those sacrifices?
But are Hybrid builds any better than your calculations, Probably Not.

I dont care about the Math as much as you seem to do.
It doesnt mean i dont know the math.. it Means that we play games differently based on our preferences, i guess or what are your thoughts?

I agree, mixing different elements is already less effective than using a single element and having effects that only enhance one element is stupid, instead of giving an enchantment that increases the status effect build up we have 4 different enchantments one for each element.

And same for damage of the specific element increased by 10%, damage increased by 10% is essentially the same thing except that one forces you to use a single element which is not a nerf of any kind since you already like having only one type of damage it is just annoying when you try to do something interesting, and fills the enchantments pool with redundant and useless effects.

Yup, even with essence embers I burned 70 embers rerolling negative affixes across 4 pieces of gear when changing a new build.

You know I’m on board with you lol. I absolutely detest the current RNG gearing system and how grindy it feels.

Especially when you keep getting those “Damage resistance decreased by 30-39%” constantly rerolled in as if anyone in their right mind would choose to take 40% more damage in a game where enemies can already 2-3 shot you through 60% DR.

The devs completely got the curses wrong, they are not balanced at all, Either they are completely ignorable or they are so harmful that it is better to not have that piece of armor equipped at all.

I rerolled my curses for my Helm and Chest piece yesterday
I only wanted to use 2 embers..
I rolled Damage resistance decrease on Both now i have 50 Damage resistance decrease
LUCKY me
(okey not gonna lie i happen to use 1 extra that gave me decreased Stagger resistance instead on 1)

I know you like RNG, but to me the fact that something like this can happen doesn’t seem “normal” xD (or good for the game).

Maybe wouldnt be ideal for lets say a Hardcore run..

I mean any enemy at the moment kind of one shots me and its also Full Cloth that im using :wink:
